Cincinnati Bengals fans got a major scare on Sunday when quarterback Joe Burrow went down with what many feared was an Achilles injury.

Instead, Burrow hurt a toe on his left foot and was listed as 'questionable' to return at halftime before ultimately being ruled out in the second half.

Jake Browning came on against the Jacksonville Jaguars after Burrow was injured on a sack by Arik Armstead. Bengals right guard Dalton Risner initially had good position on Armstead, but slipped on the Paycor Stadium turf, allowing the Jags’ pass rusher to take down Burrow by his ankles.

The 28-year-old quarterback remained on the turf in Cincinnati until he was met by trainers. Burrow pointed to his left ankle and was then helped off the field by trainers.

He was noticeably limping as he was taken to the locker room, which angered some fans, who felt Burrow should have been taken off the field on a cart.

'The Cincinnati Bengals are only team in the NFL who doesn’t have a John Deere style gator cart for stadium maintenance or helping injured players off the field,' one fan joked online.

Many more fans were upset to see Burrow once again exposed to another team's pass rush.

'There are 100 million obese people in america and the bengals cant find 5 to block for joe burrow,' one fan joked online.

A few even compared Burrow to Andrew Luck, another former first-overall pick who retired from the Colts at just 30 after years of poor pass protection.

'Joe Burrow is the modern day Andrew Luck,' one fan wrote on X. 'Both franchises failing to surround their franchise QB with competent pass protection.'

Burrow had completed 7 of 13 passes for 76 yards and a touchdown to his former LSU teammate Ja'Marr Chase as the Bengals entered halftime trailing 17-10.

The Jaguars’ Trevor Lawrence, yet another first-overall pick, had an up-and-down first half, completing 14 of 24 passes for two touchdowns and a pair of interceptions.

The Bengals would tie the game on the first possession of the second half when receiver Mitchell Tinsley hauled in a remarkable one-handed touchdown catch on a pass from Browning.
