Amari Cooper's reunion with the Las Vegas Raiders is now short-lived, as the wide receiver has informed the team he no longer wishes to play football and is retiring from the NFL.

Cooper entered the NFL as the fourth overall selection of the Raiders in the 2015 NFL Draft and stayed with the team until 2018. He had signed a one-year, $3.5million deal with the team last month.

Nine days after putting pen to paper, the 31-year-old changed his mind and decided to retire from football instead.

Cooper was only a member of Las Vegas' practice squad, but provided a veteran dynamic to the wide receivers that is now lost without him.

'Trust me. I still got some juice left,' Cooper said during a press conference on Aug. 26.

The Raiders open the regular season on Sunday on the road against the New England Patriots, with Cooper leaving the organization three days before kickoff.

Tom Brady's team will now have to fill a void left by the former superstar on short notice

Cooper was shockingly dealt to the Cowboys in the middle of the 2018 season for a first-round pick, which ended up being Johnathan Abram.

Cooper was once again dealt before the beginning of the 2022 season to the Cleveland Browns for a fifth-round pick.

The changes kept coming for the former Alabama standout last year, when he was traded to the Buffalo Bills for a third-round pick and a seventh-round pick.

His efforts to help the Bills get to the Super Bowl were unsuccessful, as the team lost to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game.

Cooper was not retained by Buffalo and was in NFL exile until Aug. 25, when he re-signed with the Raiders.

Cooper topped 1,000 receiving yards six times in his NFL career, with his last two seasons not getting above 300 yards hauled in.
