NFL fans go crazy as Michael Jordan is picked to play for the Buccaneers against the Texans

It's been over 30 years since Michael Jordan sent the infamous 'I'm back' memo announcing his return to basketball. Now, Michael Jordan is set to play football this evening for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Well, a different Michael Jordan that is. The 62-year old basketball icon and team owner is very much not in playing shape for the NFL.

Instead, it's another person with the same name. This Michael Jordan is an offensive lineman who played at Ohio State for three years before being drafted in the fourth round and suiting up for the Cincinnati Bengals, Green Bay Packers, Carolina Panthers, and New England Patriots among other teams.

Now, according to Adam Schefter, the 27-year-old Jordan is being elevated to the main roster ahead of a Monday Night Football clash with the Houston Texans.

The lineman signed with the Buccaneers in the offseason and was among the final cuts from the roster in late August.

He signed with the Bucs' practice squad and is now set to go on Monday as offensive lineman Tristan Wirfs is out and Luke Goedeke is listed as questionable. 

Fans still lost their collective minds at the news and, despite knowing that it was a different Michael Jordan, began sharing memes of 'His Airness' on social media.

'Bro how many side quests is he going to do? Can we finally have the conversation about how badly gambling set this man back?,' joked one fan.

Another said, 'Doing everything he can to try and pass LeBron.'

'It's so nice to see the Buccaneers are making Michael Jordan wishes come true to play in the NFL at age 63. Folks if 63 years old Michael Jordan can make it to the NFL then you can definitely accomplish your biggest dreams or goals in life,' another comment read.

The Bucs and Texans are set to kick off Monday Night Football at 8:00ET.
