Creighton University's men's basketball team lost to Baylor in their first matchup of the Players Era Festival on Monday and the Bluejays' radio announcer had thoughts and feelings about the performance of the referee crew.

Late in the second half with Baylor up 72-66, Bears star Cameron Carr drove to the rim and missed a dunk.

However, referee Bret Smith whistled for a blocking foul on Creighton's Blake Harper - sending Carr to the line.

There was just one problem: Harper didn't initiate contact with Carr, his feet were planted, his hands were clasped in front of him and he did not make any attempt to swipe at the Baylor player.

Essentially, Harper did not come anywhere close to committing a foul. Yet, off Carr went to the line to shoot two free throws.

Creighton fans had every right to be irate. They had a mouthpiece for that anger in the form of radio announcer John Bishop, who blew a gasket live on air.

"Carr into the paint... Missed the dunk," said Bishop before the whistle blew. "And a blocking foul?! What are you talking about? He’s outside the circle! He’s outside the circle and he’s set! He was outside the circle and he was set!

'Bret Smith blew it! He was outside the restricted area. He was straight up and down. He was set like the statue sitting out in front of New York, New York, and they called that,' Bishop added, referring to the casino in Las Vegas - where the games were being played.

Bishop continued: 'That's an absolutely horse crap call. In a game that's been played out like this. Unbelievable. Bailout call by an incompetent referee. And ball don't lie!'

The 'ball don't lie' part refers to Carr missing his first free throw. The Baylor forward did, however, make his second.

Even on the TNT broadcast of the game, play-by-play announcer Brian Anderson questioned the decision, saying to partner Grant Hill, 'I don't know where the foul is there.'

Twitter user Nick Adubato clipped the broadcast and posted it to his social media accounts, leading Bishop to go viral.

'I am HOWLING at the Creighton radio meltdown,' one user posted on X.

Another said, 'What's funny is that is still more tame than most of us yelling at the tv. F***ing hilarious and he better [not] have to apologize to anyone!'

'Oh good, other teams have discovered the soothing voice of John Bishop's radio calls!' a Creighton fan wrote.

One comment read, 'The Creighton radio announcers are my new favorite thing ever.'

Bishop's own radio station made fun of his reaction - which included an extended cut as well as commentary.

Creighton lost 81-74 to Baylor. Carr led the Bears with 21 points and nine rebounds.
