Weeks after brother-in-law Travis Kelce announced his engagement to Taylor Swift, Kylie Kelce is revealing her reasons for not publicly congratulating the happy couple either on her social media or her podcast.
Swift's engagement to the Kansas City Chiefs tight end broke the internet, with millions of 'Swifties' celebrating the occasion.
But fans began to wonder why Kylie, who is married to Travis' brother and former Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce, didn't make any sort of public statement after the announcement was made.
Speaking on an episode of her 'Not Gonna Lie' podcast, Kylie revealed why she didn't say anything on her show.
'I have made a very conscious effort to not discuss Taylor and Travis on this podcast because news outlets, tabloids, and AI, quite frankly, like to post only the quotes that they grab from whatever I say in reference to them,' Kylie said on the latest episode of her podcast.
'And here's where I think there is a disconnect. People do not realize that you at home, you have your family. And in your family, you might have a brother-in-law, and they might be dating someone. You might have a soon-to-be sister-in-law.
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce got engaged last month to an insane amount of internet fanfare
Many fans were wondering why Kylie Kelce didn't publicly congratulate the happy couple
'But you have a relationship personally with them that no one else is involved in because it's your relationship. And so I don't need to come out here and make statements when I already talked to them. You see what I'm saying?
'I don't need you to click bait my s**t. I don't need you to take my comments and try and dissect it. I think it goes without being said. I am so incredibly happy for them. We are so excited that they are taking this next step.
'The girls [daughters Wyatt, Elliotte, and Bennett] are so excited to get another aunt. I am so truly happy for them, and I feel grateful that we get to welcome Taylor into our family in a more official capacity.
'But it's our private relationship. That's my brother-in-law, Travis, and my soon-to-be sister-in-law, Taylor. I don't need to talk about them all the time. Our relationship is private between us.
'It's okay that time made it so that we didn't congratulate them in the last episode. Also that I don't always have to comment on what they're doing in their lives because I can just text them and talk to them.'
While she did not immediately speak about the news on the day it was revealed, Kylie did address the engagement in the days following its revelation.
In early September, she made an appearance on Good Morning America to talk about her daughter's reaction to the news
'The girls are thrilled,' Kylie said on GMA. 'They're so excited they're getting another aunt. And we could not be more excited for them and what the future holds. We love love, and we love Taylor and Trav!'
Kylie did say that her three daughters - Wyatt, Elliotte, and Bennett - are happy to have an aunt
During Swift's appearance on New Heights last month, Swift reminisced about meeting Kylie and Jason, and watching the former NFL offensive lineman jump out of a window shirtless and start handing the popstar children through the window to the suite.
Swift also mentioned how she has spent time with her future nieces away from the cameras, seeing their dynamic for herself.
'I am very forthcoming with how much I love and appreciate [Taylor Swift], and how much I love the fact you can tell how happy Travis is. And that's what I care about,' Kylie added.
