The Florida Department of Law Enforcement Commissioner has announced the arrests of four individuals in connection with last month's shooting of Florida State linebacker Ethan Pritchard, who remains in a Tallahassee hospital.

FDLE commissioner Mark Glass said Pritchard was 'not doing anything wrong' when he was shot in the back of his head while inside a vehicle in Havana, Florida. The 224-pound freshman linebacker is in critical but stable condition at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital.

Suspects Jayden Bodison, Caron Miller, Germany Atkins and an unnamed minor were arrested and booked into the Gadsen County jail.

Gadsden County Sheriff Morris Young told reporters he believes the shooting is a case of mistaken identity. Bodison, Miller and the unnamed minor all face three counts of attempted murder and one count of shooting into an occupied vehicle, while Atkins is accused of violating his probation. It's unclear if any of the suspects have attorneys yet.

Pritchard sat out of Florida State's season-opening upset of No. 8 Alabama on August 30 only to be shot the following night while driving his aunt home from a family function.

On Saturday, FSU coach Mike Norvell discussed the player, who'd he'd recruited for years before Pritchard committed to the Seminoles.

'[I] got a chance to watch him grow,' Norvell told reporters. 'The way that he plays the game, it's a passion, energy. He loves it, absolutely loves it.

'To know that right now that's taken away from him in a senseless act ... you don't always know why you have to go through things in life. You don't understand the reasoning. But I do believe that God has his hand over Ethan and this football team and just all the relationships.'

Pritchard's father, Earl, recently attended FSU's Week 2 win over East Texas A&M from the sidelines.

Asked about Earl, Pritchard described him as a 'wonderful man.'

'And being with him, I know it's so very hard for anybody to have to go through,' Norvell said. 'But he told me earlier this week, 'I know where my boy wants to be, so I'm going to go stand in his place for him.'

As Pritchard's father Earl told WFTV in Orlando last week, the Seminoles freshman was wounded in the back of the head on Sunday as he was driving his aunt home from a family gathering on the Florida-Georgia border.

'He was actually in the car taking my sister around the corner to her daughter's house to drop her off,' Earl Pritchard told WFTV. 'They turned the corner, and as soon as they turned the corner, they heard gunshots.'

Earl said doctors have been monitoring the swelling in his son's head following surgery.
