Being inside the squared circle with John Cena, The Rock, Rhea Ripley, and plenty of other WWE behemoths have not sent legendary referee Charles Robinson to the hospital, but a wild animal did.

Robinson, 61, who has presided over some of the greatest matches in professional wrestling over the last 25 years, revealed he was hospitalized at 2am this week after being bitten by a bat.

Exactly how Robinson came in contact with a bat is unclear. However, the referee released video of his receiving medical treatment at the hospital and a picture of the toothsome bat.

'Great way to start the morning. 2:00am and got bit by a bat. That’s right a bat! 4 hours later in the ER and six shots. #animalattacks #hospital,' Robinson said on Instagram.

'This is the culprit that got me. Such a cutie! #bat #animal,' Robinson said in a different post.

The treatment for bat bites is to 'immediately wash the wound thoroughly with soap and water for several minutes. Then, seek medical advice as soon as possible,' per the Cleveland Clinic.

How Robinson came in contact with the bat is unclear, as he posted the bat on social media

Several wrestlers commented their well wishes to Lil' Natch, with Robinson getting that nickname by being the hand-picked match official for arguably the greatest in-ring wrestler of all time, Ric 'The Nature Boy' Flair.

'Now you’re officially a vampire!' former WWE world champion Chris Jericho said.

'Charles!!!! You’re the toughest,' WWE star Nia Jax commented.

Robinson is on the road with the WWE for most of the year, and does not look to be taking any time off due to getting the bite.

Injuries to WWE referees do happen, with Robinson taking a spear from Goldberg last month in his retirement match against Gunther. An X-ray showed a cracked rib.

That devastating move did not stop one of the longest-tenured referees in professional wrestling history. It appears the bat will not either.
