Wales international goalkeeper Danny Ward will have a medical at Wrexham on Monday ahead of a return to his hometown club.

Ward, 32, began as trainee at the Racecourse Ground before playing for Liverpool, Aberdeen and Leicester, where he spent seven years until his contract ended this summer.

The 'keeper has won 44 international caps and his signing is a sign of Wrexham's ambitions following promotion to The Championship.

Ward is set to be Wrexham's second-choice goalkeeper behind Arthur Okonkwo.

He has experience of playing in the Premier League and also featured prominently in the Championship during a loan spell at Huddersfield in the 2016-17 season.

Goalkeepers Callum Burton and Luke McNicholas are also part of the Wrexham squad.
