Footy superstar Reece Walsh makes fun of his shocking toilet water video as his club goes into crisis control

Broncos superstar Reece Walsh has poked fun at his recent toilet water drama with two social media posts as the club considers getting a minder to monitor him to avoid more scandals.

Walsh, 23, stunned his fans on Sunday when he published a clip on his Snapchat story in which he was seen drinking water out of a toilet bowl while informing his followers that doing so can help improve muscle recovery.

'They reckon there is a new form of recovery, to recover the muscles,' Walsh said.

'They reckon if you just... toilet water,' he added before sticking his hand in the toilet bowl.

'You just get a little drink.'

It was later revealed that the bizarre video was part of a joke and the toilet had never been used, as it was just installed during renovations of the star's home.

Walsh made light of the furore over his video by posting this image to Instagram on Tuesday morning, showing his dog in a Bunnings hardware store with a sign reading 'Thru to plumbing' prominently featured

Walsh also appeared to reference his toilet controversy with this post about 'muscle recovery'

The stunt left the Broncos furious, with the club issuing a statement saying: 'The video represents a poor attempt at humour posted privately by Walsh. No one should take this video seriously or act upon the advice.'

It seems Walsh is leaning in to the controversy with his trademark sense of humour by posting jokes about the incident to his 541,000 followers on social media.

On Tuesday, Walsh shared a photo of his dog at Bunnings with a 'Thru to Plumbing' sign featured prominently in the background.

He followed it up with a post hours later of a meat delivery he had received with the caption 'For all your muscle recovery'.

Broncos powerbrokers have spoken to Walsh about his social media content and are concerned about their $81million brand, according to News Corp.

Club chiefs have even discussed if the club should get someone to manage his public image and social media posts to avoid future controversies.

Footy commentator Andrew Voss said the recent controversy would be a concern for one of Walsh's major sponsors, fitness supplements giant Musashi.

'The person who would have the biggest issue with this would be commercial sponsors,' Voss told SEN radio.

The Broncos are reportedly considering getting someone to monitor Walsh's social media use to avoid more scandals

'Musashi would probably be one of them. I have seen his face plastered on a billboard, front and centre advertising a health supplement.

'Twenty-four hours later, there is Reece Walsh saying that you should drink toilet water. A sponsor may just have a problem with that. He is a high-profile figure and he posted it.

'No one put a gun to his head and demanded that he post it. The sponsors certainly have reason to be upset and the Broncos are probably just confused.'

Walsh's bizarre toilet stunt left league legend Brad Fittler aghast.

'He's taking the p***, isn't he? Seriously,' Fittler said on 2GB radio.

His co-host Adam Hawse added: 'If we're giving out advice, Broncos, I'll give you some advice: get Reece off social media.

'It's that simple.'

It is not the first time this year that the 23-year-old has shocked fans with a video posted on his social media.

Back in May, Walsh published a video clip on TikTok in which he was seen punching another man in the head, while wearing a pair of boxing gloves.

The clip was said to be a joke and the man he was punching in the video was also said to be his best mate, with Walsh seen winding up a big right hook before knocking the man to the ground, where he was seen holding his head in his hands.

The Broncos were said to be 'privately furious' about the bizarre video, with Walsh subsequently taking to social media to address the video.

'Just to add context to the video recently posted – it was a joke with me (sic) best mate,' he wrote.

'No one was harmed, boys being boys.'
