World Series winner fired warning shot to Usher about flirting with his wife, singer reveals: 'No cherries'

Usher has named the MLB star that warned him not flirt with his wife at the singer's concert.

The 46-year-old has become known for his seductive serenades at his concerts, where he often invites a member of the crowd on stage to participate. 

However, one baseball star has informed Usher not to pick his partner and, specifically, not to feed her a cherry - which is a common routine at his gigs. 

During an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, the talkshow host asked: 'Have you ever heard from any angry husbands or boyfriends? Because you are not feeding my wife cherries'.

Usher replied: 'There have been a couple of people who are very clear that they didn't want me to feed cherries. 

'Mookie Betts of the L.A. Dodgers, he said like, 'No serenade. Leave the cherries at home. No cherries'.

Jokingly, Colbert responded: 'That's a man that uses a bat professionally. I would listen'.

Dodgers star Betts is married to Brianna Hammonds and the couple share two kids together. 

They began dating in middle school before getting married in 2021. They welcomed their first daughter, Kynlee, in 2018 and then their first son, Kaj, in April 2023.

Betts - a second baseman for the Dodgers - is an eight-time All-Star, six-time Gold Glove Award recipient and a three-time World Series Champion.

Later in the show, Usher explained: 'The whole idea of cherries is just giving women the freedom to have fun at a concert'.

The singer had previously explained how the unique cherry-eating act became part of his concerts. Speaking on The Jennifer Hudson Show in February, he said: 'It started with strawberries in Vegas,'

'So, you know, I just figured we try all the fruits until we figured out which one works the best. But cherries were something that I felt was fun and just kind of active. It was a bit erotic.'
