WNBA star Kelsey Plum has gone viral after she delivered a brutal four-word message to a fan wearing Caitlin Clark merchandise.

The Los Angeles Sparks point guard was spotted warming up with teammates ahead of their match against the Chicago Sky on Sunday when the incident occurred.

Fans had gathered courtside at the Crypto.com Arena and some called out to Plum in the hopes of getting a picture with the WNBA star.

Plum - who still had an exercise band around her leg from warmups - walked over and threw a Sparks T-shirt at one of the fans, who had been wearing a Clark t-shirt.

In a video that emerged on X, she jokingly told the fan: 'You can't be wearing that in the gym!' before smiling and greeting the other supporters sat courtside.

Plum then agreed to take a photo with the fan - who was now wearing Sparks merch - but made sure to offer a blunt four-word reminder: 'Next time, do better'.

Clark has become a major hit among fans since entering the WNBA last season

The incident comes shortly after Plum and Clark had a heated interaction during the Indiana Fever's match against the Sparks.

Reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year, Clark, was ruled out of the fixture after suffering a groin injury and was forced to watch on as the Sparks ran out 85-75 winners.

While she wasn't able to make an impact on the court, she did step foot on it - much to the frustrations of Sparks star Plum.

Fan footage from the game has since gone viral as eagle-eyed supporters noticed the moment Plum alerted officials to the fact Clark had stepped onto the court.

Plum could be seen pointing towards Clark and calling for the referee to dish out a technical foul to the injured Fever star.

Clark - who stood with her arms spread wide in a gesture that signified her confusion at Plum's pleas - was not punished by the officials for the incident.

It appeared that it was, in fact, a light-hearted interaction between the two WNBA star given that, afterwards, both stars were seen smiling.

Despite the goading from her rivals, it's been a great week for Clark after she was named a WNBA All-Star Game captain

Clark and Lynx star Napheesa Collier received the most votes from fans for the All-Star Game, with the pair set to draft their teams ahead of the contest on July 19.

It was revealed on Monday that Clark received just the ninth-most votes among guards in the player vote, with the likes of Allisha Gray, Sabrina Ionescu and rookie Paige Bueckers ahead of her. The former Iowa star did place third in the media vote,
