NFL breakout star sparks injury fears after damaging his knee in practice

A rising star for the Green Bay Packers has been added to the team's injury report.

Tight end Tucker Kraft, a third-year player out of South Dakota State, is listed on the team's injured list with a knee ailment he sustained in practice.

According to The Athletic's Matt Schneidman, Kraft only 'tweaked' his knee and he 'could still play Sunday against the Browns'.

Kraft is currently third in the NFL for receiving yards amongst tight ends - just one yard behind second-place Raiders star Brock Bowers.

However, his two receiving touchdowns is tied for fifth amongst all receivers and tied for the most among tight ends alongside Zach Ertz of the Washington Commanders and Davis Allen of the Los Angeles Rams.

Last season, Kraft was second on the Packers in receiving yards as he became a favorite target of Green Bay quarterback Jordan Love.

However, his injury comes at a time where the Packers can't afford to have another pass catcher go down.

Green Bay's top-two wide receivers - Christian Watson and Jayden Reed - are both dealing with serious injuries.

Watson has been recovering from a season-ending knee injury that he sustained in the final game of the 2024 campaign. He has not returned to the field since.

Meanwhile, Reed went down during a Thursday Night Football win over the Commanders with a pair of broken bones. 

He had been playing through a Jones fracture in his left foot before suffering a fractured collarbone against Washington.

Reed underwent surgery for both those injuries this week. Head coach Matt LaFleur expects him to miss 'a lot of time'.

The Packers travel to Cleveland for Week 3 of the season.
