Everton are interested in Bournemouth goalkeeper Mark Travers as cover for Jordan Pickford.
Asmir Begovic and Joao Virginia both left the club earlier this summer following the expirations of their contracts and David Moyes wants proven back up for England international Pickford.
Travers, a Republic of Ireland international, has Premier League experience but spent part of last season on loan at Championship Middlesbrough and has previously had a spell on loan at Stoke City.
Talks have taken place but a deal is still to be agreed.
Bournemouth are in the throes of agreeing a deal with Chelsea for goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic.
Chelsea want around £25m for the Serbia international who also had interest from Sunderland.

Chelsea may send Mike Penders on loan to Strasbourg once Petrovic's sale is concluded while Sunderland are considering Southampton's Aaron Ramsdale and Sam Johnstone of Wolves as alternatives.
Chelsea, who may yet add another senior keeper themselves, are also in talks over the potential £8m sale of left-back Ishe Samuels-Smith to Strasbourg, the Ligue 1 club owned by BlueCo. Samuels-Smith, 19, arrived from Everton for £4m in 2023.
Everton right back Roman Dixon, meanwhile, and teammate Tyler Onyango are in talks to join League One Stockport County on loan.
