A longtime fan of the University of Tennessee has gone viral for his heartbreaking reactions during Saturday's college football game against Georgia. But it appears he wasn't supposed to be there.

Jeff Comeaux, who lives in the same city as the school, was shown on screens in a rollercoaster of emotions during the game at Neyland Stadium on Saturday during the Volunteers' overtime loss to the Bulldogs.

A camera operator noticed his reactions and continued to cut back to him multiple times throughout the game.

He went through the ringer: crossing his arms in disappointment, covering his face with his hands in disbelief, and nervously hanging on.

After the game, he received hundreds of texts from friends and acquaintances talking about his time on the screen.

But one of the texts he received was from his employer, who wasn't happy after Comeaux called out sick from work in order to attend the game.

The fan, later revealed to be Jeff Comeaux, said he took a sick day and then his boss saw him

'I got to a point where I was like, you know what, the best thing to do is I'm just gonna call in sick today. And I got Coldplayed,' Comeaux told WBIR.

Memes began circulating with his reactions in the aftermath of their airing on ABC - even with some Georgia fans photoshopping the footage to have their jersey on them.

'Everyone was like, "Man, you are my soul, you are my spirit animal". And honestly, I've gotten as many comments from Georgia fans as I have Tennessee fans,' he told the outlet.

Comeaux told the station that he used to go to every single Vols rivalry game at Neyland, but gave up his tickets around 2002.

He said that the only game he ever missed across the 12 years he had tickets was when Tennessee upset then-No. 2 Florida in overtime in 1998. Tennessee would go on to win the national championship that year.
