Caitlin Clark will return from her groin injury and play for the Indiana Fever after missing five straight games on Wednesday night against the Golden State Valkyries.

Clark has missed 10 games overall this season after also suffering a quadriceps injury in late May.

Clark last played on June 24 against the Seattle Storm, with the Fever going 3-2 without her over the last two weeks.

The Fever phenom's last game out of the lineup on Saturday saw her teammates blow a fourth-quarter lead in the final minute of an eventual 89-87 defeat to the Los Angeles Sparks.

Clark does not know how long she will play in Wednesday's game, with a minutes restriction possibly being placed on the point guard.

'I think its just nice to get back out there and get in the flow of playing with my teammates again and it's going to be fun to get back out there hopefully and just feel things again,' Clark said during Tuesday's practice.

'I don't know what type of minutes I'm going to get, what they'll look like, but just when I'm out there, compete, play hard. This is going to be a team that's moving constantly, so just being aware and active, bring energy. It's obviously hard sitting out and watching for a few weeks, so I'm excited to get back out there.'

'I hope to pay a decent amount, maybe upper 20s, depends how I feel and how the game goes and what they team needs as well. I feel pretty good, but going to try not to overdo it as well and put myself in a good position moving forward.'

After two dominant wins last week over the Minnesota Lynx and Las Vegas Aces, some WNBA fans believed the Fever were actually better off without their star player on the court.

Now, after Indiana lost to 10th-place Western Conference rivals Los Angeles for the second time in nine days, those critics have become mute while Clark's fans are celebrating the demise of such theories.

Earlier in the week, Indiana won its first trophy since 2012 by securing the Commissioner's Cup on the road against the Lynx. On Thursday, the Fever defeated A'ja Wilson and Las Vegas by 27.

The team now has even records with and without Clark in their lineup, as they are 4-4 with her on the court and 5-5 with the phenom watching from the sidelines.

Saturday's miserable loss was two weeks before the WNBA All-Star Game in Indianapolis, where Clark was voted a captain despite her multiple absences.

She was named an All-Star Game captain by being one of the two players receiving the most fan votes. Lynx star Napheesa Collier and Clark will now have the opportunity to draft from a pool of the other WNBA All-Stars to create two teams ahead of the festivities.
