New York Knicks star Mikal Bridges has agreed to a four-year contract extension worth $150million, according to reports.
The new deal includes a player option for 2029-30 and a trade kicker, according to ESPN's Shams Charania.
The report claims Bridges has taken a slight discount from his max extension number ($156m) in order to help the Knicks continue building their roster in the offseason.
The extension comes after Bridges joined the Knicks last offseason in a high-profile trade from the Brooklyn Nets, in exchange for five future first-round picks, a first-round pick swap, and a second-round pick.
His first season with the Knicks saw him average 17.6 points, 3.7 assists, and 3.2 rebounds per game, playing all 82 regular-season games.
The versatile forward also played a key role in the team's run to the Eastern Conference Finals, boosting his value in the process.
The new contract represents a significant increase from the four-year, $90 million rookie extension Bridges signed with the Phoenix Suns in 2021.
The inclusion of a player option and trade kicker provides Bridges with flexibility, allowing him to opt out or negotiate further depending on his performance and the team's direction.
The Knicks likely view the extension as a commitment to building around their core, which includes stars like Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns.
