Nathan Cleary lifts the lid on when he plans to catch up with girlfriend Mary Fowler while he is in England for the Rugby League Ashes

Mary Fowler is set to make a ‘mad dash’ to catch her boyfriend Nathan Cleary this week, as the Kangaroos prepare for their hotly anticipated second Test against England in Liverpool on Saturday.

The Kangaroos claimed a dominant 26-6 victory against England over the weekend but have set up a blockbuster match against the hosts on Saturday at Everton’s brand new Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Fowler, who has been sidelined with an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury since April, has not been able to catch up with her beau, Cleary, since the Australian rugby league squad touched down in London last week.

But with the Panthers superstar now due to head to the north of England, a rare opportunity has presented itself for the pair, who live on opposite sides of the world, to catch up.

And the Matildas forward may just be able to catch her beau in action, with the 22-year-old set to watch her Manchester City team-mates take on West Ham in the Women’s Super League at 12pm on Saturday at the Joie Stadium before making a ‘mad dash’, according to 7News’ Jelisa Apps, down the M62 to catch Cleary in Liverpool.

Australia and England will go toe-to-toe at Everton’s sparkling new stadium on the River Mersey at 2:30pm, and while Fowler may not catch the entire game, she should get to catch the second-half at least.

Nathan Cleary has revealed that Mary Fowler will make a 'mad dash' to catch up with him this weekend in Liverpool as Australia take on England in the second Rugby League Ashes Test

The Aussie sporting superstars, who have been dating since 2023, live 16,000km away on opposite ends of the earth

But Cleary has explained that he is hoping to catch up with her after Australia's second Test against England on Saturday night

‘I should be able to see her when we get to Liverpool,’ Cleary told 7News, following his side’s big victory at Wembley on Saturday.

‘So I’m looking forward to that and hopefully she can come to the games,’ he added.

Cleary, 27, added: ‘It’s unfortunate that the games are on the same night but I’ll be able to see her, so that’s the important thing.’

The Australian sporting couple, who have been dating since 2023, spent time together in the UK last year, with Cleary jetting over to watch the 2024 Super League Grand Final in October.

Both he and the City forward were snapped taking in the action at Old Trafford, before heading off to enjoy romantic getaways to the coast and further afield to Mallorca.

Prior to Saturday’s victory, Cleary opened up on his relationship with Fowler, noting that one day he would like to become a father.

‘It does,’ he explained to The Sydney Morning Herald when asked whether starting a family has crossed his mind. ‘Like, that’s probably my biggest goal in life, to one day be a father.

‘But it’s just probably not meant to be at the moment and there are still things that have to fall into place.

In recent days, Cleary has also opened up on his dream to become a father, but added that that may be some time away with he and Fowler currently in the middle of their sporting careers

‘We’re both in the middle of our sporting journeys and enjoying that.

‘So when the day comes, I would absolutely love that.

‘But yeah, it’s just not right now.’

Cleary, meanwhile, also opened up on rumours linking him to the Super League. Some outlets have claimed that the move to the UK would allow him to be closer to Fowler.

‘Every three months that article comes out,’ the champion halfback explained, noting that he has a deal with Penrith which will run until the end of the 2027 season.

‘I’ve loved my time in Penrith and it’s home to me,’ he told The Sydney Morning Herald, before delving into what the future could look like.

‘I’m quite open to things in the future. Maybe having something different, but for the time being, yeah, I can’t really see it happening.

‘I’ve said it a few times, like I’m open to things, and the last thing I want when I get to the end of my career is to have regrets. So yeah, we’ll see what happens.’

While Cleary enjoyed an excellent outing during Australia’s victory against England on Saturday, it was Brisbane Broncos fullback Reece Walsh who stole the headlines.

‘It’s mad, there’s definitely not many players in the history of the game that can do what he does,’ Cleary told 7News.

‘He just breaks the game open out of nothing and to play with somebody of that calibre and that X-factor is pretty cool.’
