Liverpool star Mohamed Salah scored his 250th goal for Liverpool on Saturday night following an Emiliano Martinez howler at Anfield.
The Reds, who had lost six of their last seven games, were lacking in confidence going into the match, but took the lead in the first half when Martinez tired to play out from the back.
Villa had endured issues playing out throughout the game, and World Cup-winning goalkeeper Martinez ended up passing straight to Salah, who poked in with his right foot to reach the landmark.
The Egyptian, who joined Liverpool in 2017 for £39millon, became just the third man to reach the landmark for the Reds - after Ian Rush and Roger Hunt.
It was Salah's fifth goal of the season in 14 games in what has been a quiet start to the campaign amid his team's struggles. After netting against Brentford last week too, though, he has two in his last two league games and will hope he has now turned a corner.
The 33-year-old's first Liverpool goal came in a 3-3 draw with Watford back in August 2017, and, 249 strikes later, he has again written his name into the history books.

Salah registered 57 goals and assists in an outstanding campaign last year as Liverpool won the Premier League, but there has been concern around his form this term after he signed a contract extension in the summer.
A little over a week ago, however, his manager, Arne Slot, eased concerns surrounding his form.
'The main thing is that Mo has always scored goals for our club and the last thing I worry about is Mo starting to score goals again,' Slot said. 'Because that is what he has done his whole life and that is what I expect him to do in the upcoming weeks and months for our club as well.'
Salah's strike on Saturday meant he equalled Wayne Rooney's record of the most goals and assists combined for a single Premier League club.
It came not long after Hugo Ekitike thought he had given the Reds the lead in the first period, but for his strike to be ruled out for offside.
Ryan Gravenberch's deflected effort in the second half, meanwhile, gave the Reds some breathing space to put them 2-0 up against the high-flying Villans.
