Eagle-eyed NFL fans have claimed that referees missed a bizarre Josh Allen fumble during the Bills' win over the Dolphins on Thursday.

Just before halftime in the Buffalo-Miami game, Buffalo kneeled out the clock to go into the break tied at 14.

But video of the play appears to show that Allen actually fumbled the snap before eventually tossing the ball to a referee.

As seen in the clip, the ball goes through Allen's hands while his knee is on the turf.

He then scrambled to pick the ball up with his knee still on the ground before dropping it in the hands of a referee.

However, one Dolphins player seemingly thought the ball was live as they chased behind Allen until the play was blown dead.

As pointed out by analyst Warren Sharp, the play was apparently ruled a fumble in the official scorebook.

Other fans also pointed out that Allen's knee was in fact down as he scooped up the ball, though it's not clear if that would've been considered full possession.

Regardless, NFL rules state that a ball is declared dead even when a quarterback merely simulates taking a knee.

Ultimately, Allen went on to put the odd moment behind him as he and the Bills improved to 3-0 with a 31-21 win over their AFC East Rivals.

Allen completed 22-of-28 passes for 213 yards and three touchdowns, while adding 25 rushing yards on the ground.

Running back James Cook also added 108 rushing yards and a score, Dalton Kincaid led Buffalo receivers with
