Alan Shearer did not hold back in his assessment of Newcastle's woeful 4-1 defeat by Leeds at Elland Road on Monday night, branding his old team's first-half performance an 'absolute s***show'.
The Magpies legend was furious after watching Matthias Jaissle's side concede twice in the space of two minutes just past the half-hour mark, and his misery was compounded when Dominic Calvert-Lewin added a third moments before the break.
'An absolute s***show from the Toon. 3-0 at HT is embarrassing,' Shearer posted to social media platform X in a fury at half-time.
Newcastle's evening went from bad to worse in the 59th-minute when Noah Okafor netted Leeds' fourth with a superb left-footed finish, rubber stamping the victory before Magpies summer signing Bazoumana Toure scored a late consolation goal.
Both teams had enjoyed fruitful starts in the Premier League ahead of the clash at Elland Road, with Jaissle's side unbeaten prior to the 4-1 hiding.
The Magpies slipped to 12th in the table on five points from their first four matches, while Daniel Farke's Leeds climbed to third with two wins and two draws to their name.

After the match, Jaissle admitted his team failed to match the hosts' intensity.
The 38-year-old German said: 'Only one thing went wrong. It was disappointing, definitely because we couldn't bring the fundamentals in football on to the pitch.
'Duel behaviour, the intensity of Leeds we couldn't match, and then you can see that it's going to be difficult to win a game in the Premier League.'
The Magpies are clearly in transition after the Howe era, spending around £265million this summer and receiving close to £248m in sales during wholesale changes at St James' Park.
'I said to the lads, we were aware a couple of weeks ago, that with that young squad, we will have challenges,' Jaissle added.
'We will have ups and downs. Today it was a big down, a tough night with a heavy defeat.
'But that's now exactly the way to learn out of it with a young squad. That's always the most important thing, that you show now the right reaction, and we can do that already on Saturday (against Hull City).'
