Australian professional wrestler and WWE superstar Grayson Waller nearly worked himself into a shoot and feared he'd face the wrath of Travis Kelce after making a remark about Taylor Swift.
Waller, 35, made an appearance on a now-defunct WWE web series, 'The Bump', in October 2023.
On that episode, the then-new relationship between Swift and Kelce was discussed, with Waller delivering a rather crass remark.
'If Travis Kelce is happy settling for a 6, good for him,' Waller said at the time.
Reflecting on that moment during an appearance on 'INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet' on Tuesday, Waller admitted that he was still proud of the 'great line' he delivered.
'I was pretty happy with that,' the superstar told the wrestling journalist.
WWE superstar Grayson Waller doesn't regret calling Taylor Swift a '6' on a podcast
He did, however, fear some form of a fight against Chiefs tight end if he ever met him
Waller continued: 'But I didn't even think about it until all of a sudden I have these cringe moms on TikTok who don't spend time with their kids doing videos on me about how ugly I am. They were saying some wild stuff. Swiftie fans are mean.'
But the comment didn't really come back to his mind until Waller and some other WWE superstars were invited to Tight End University - the annual meeting of tight ends put on by Kelce, 49ers star George Kittle, and retired Panthers icon Greg Olsen.
'They did a party one night,' Waller explained. 'Me, Bayley and Sheamus all went to Nashville. We went to the party.
'And then [Swift] and Travis Kelce were both there. In the back of my mind, she doesn't know who I am.
'But imagine if at some stage, they're scrolling through their phone and they've seen this idiot Australian has said a really rude thing. I'm a bit like, "Man, I'm going to have to fight Travis Kelce."'
While Waller said he was prepared for a brawl, he realized it would be tougher than expected once he got a closer look at the 36-year-old.
Waller said he was ready to throw hands — until he got a look at Kelce up close.
'I've said multiple times I'll fight Travis Kelce,' the pro wrestler boasted. 'And then I saw how big tight ends are and how big he was. Man, I'm going to win but it's going to be a scrap.'
This past summer, Waller (R) and fellow wrestlers Sheamus (L) and Bayley were invited to attend Kelce's Tight End University afterparty in Nashville
Waller said he met Kelce and anticipated a fight, but revealed he was 'super chill' instead
Eventually, the moment came when Kelce approached the trio of wrestlers.
'I was like, 'Here we go,' Waller remembered thinking as Kelce walked up. 'But he was super nice … He didn't have to come over and chat with us. Super chill. Chatted with us for a bit.'
As for Swift herself, Waller's interaction with the 'Cruel Summer' singer was much more brief.
'I didn't get to meet Taylor officially,' Waller said. 'She did walk past me at some stage and I had to move and go, 'Oh sorry.' And she said, 'Thank you.' So I think that's the reconciliation.'
He added, 'I guess in my head I thought, "Taylor Swift, she's going to have all of this security around her." She was just sinking beers with the boys, just hanging upstairs. I was like, "She's a good one."'
Waller did stick around for the concert that evening - when Swift made a cameo alongside country singer Kane Brown to do a quick rendition of 'Shake It Off'.
But the Sydney native says he's not in a rush to shell out a mortgage on a ticket to see her anytime soon: 'I'm good, I'm good. I went to one. She sung a song in front of us.'
