Nick Pope: What Newcastle need to improve - and his England hopes
By Luke Power
Newcastle goalkeeper Nick Pope has been speaking with Sky Sports.
'We had a bit of change in the summer so the start of the season was always going to be a challenging period for ourselves,' he said.
We had some good performances. They've blossomed a bit more and we've seen some results.
'Away form is something we want to change, no wins yet, so it's something we're looking at.
'For us to improve as a team, the away results are something we need to take in a better direction.
'It's nice to have some clean sheets. I've been looked after really well from the 10 in front of me.
'I'm in regular contact with the goalie coach Hilario who has been communicating with me and we catch up every other week or so. I feel like I'm still in the picture. A lot of games to play before then (the World Cup).'

'(I'm looking for) A better performance.
'(From Callum Wilson I want) Experience, he knows the job, and goals.
'Today I expect improvement. It's basically what we want. There is no other recipe for success, especially in the situation we're in.
'It's up to us, the team, to connect with the fans. We forgive them (for being upset).'

Newcastle's travelling joys
By Luke Power
This is a happy hunting ground for Newcastle. They've won on four of their last six trips to the London Stadium, drawing the other two.
And their recent meetings with West Ham have been kind in general. The Magpies have won seven of their last 13 encounters against them, only losing twice in a run dating back to 2019.

Callum Wilson faces old friends
By Luke Power
Callum Wilson faces Newcastle for the first time since leaving them over the summer.
He's managed one goal in seven games for the Hammers, not exactly a flying start, but it's something to build from. He's typically been a sub but starts here.

Nuno picks a rational team - but does it have leaders?
Well, at least it looks like a rational West Ham team from Nuno for once.
Full-backs playing on the correct side (we think), an actual striker in Wilson and some creativity in Fernandes and Paqueta behind Bowen and Summerville.
That looks like it could at least cause Newcastle, a side yet to win on the road this season, some issues.
Still no real leaders in it, though, and in a stadium that will quickly turn toxic you always wonder who in that team will have the gumption to grab the game by the lapels when, inevitably, things start to go wrong

A record West Ham want to avoid
By Luke Power
West Ham have already made their joint-worst start to a league campaign after nine games.
With a squad with as much talent as theirs, a run of seven defeats, one draw, and one win is abysmal.
If they lose today, it will be the first time in their history that they have lost eight out of their first 10 league games in a season.
Crisis time.
