Daniel Jones was seen with blood pouring from his mouth after suffering a gruesome injury while playing for the Colts on Sunday.

Indianapolis was involved in a brutal overtime game in Germany on Sunday morning, eventually overcoming the Falcons, but the players had to leave everything on the field.

That was certainly the case for quarterback Jones, with the TV cameras showing a close-up of him grimacing with his mouth full of blood.

It is unclear exactly what sparked the bloody injury, but the former New York Giants star proved his mettle by staying in the game and not missing a play.

Jones' nasty injury initially sparked major concern from fans but they quickly praised his toughness after leading the Colts to victory.

One posted: 'Daniel Jones out here channeling his inner Rocky bloody lip and all dragging the Colts back to tie it in crunch time! What a warrior.'

Another said: 'Give him the game ball, absolutely warrior move'.

A third added: 'That clutch tie-up shows real grit - playing through a bloody lip like that. Solid effort!'

Jones was jokingly branded a 'psycho' after the image of his bloodied mouth appeared on screen for the first time.

'Daniel Jones bloody mouth game in Berlin was an INSTANT CLASSIC,' another fan wrote.

When Jones then took part in a post-game press conference, there was no visible damage to his face.

Jones, who left the New York Giants last season after a horrible spell in the Big Apple, continued his remarkable turnaround in Indianapolis with another victory.

He finished 19 of 26 for 255 yards with a touchdown and interception. He was sacked seven times, fumbled three times and lost one of them in a bruising game.

Jones and the Colts may have won again on Sunday but really they have running back Jonathan Taylor to thank.

He completed a remarkable 244-yard rushing day with an eight-yard touchdown run in overtime to give the Colts a 31-25 victory.

It was Taylor's third touchdown of the day and came after Colts kicker Michael Badgley tied the game with a 44-yard field goal with 25 seconds left.

It was Taylor's third career 200-yard rushing day. His single-game career high is 253 yards from the 2020 season.
