Ruben Amorim has delivered a withering response to Arne Slot, saying he doesn't care what the Liverpool manager thinks about Manchester United's tactics.

Slot was frustrated that United 'had a low block and played a lot of long balls' in their 2-1 win over Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.

Amorim took his opportunity to reply on Friday, insisting he doesn't need another manager to evaluate his team, and he is more interested in what Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler has to say ahead of United clash with the Seagulls at Old Trafford on Saturday evening.

'I don't care what Slot is saying, what people are saying about our team,' he said. 'I can watch the game and say we can do better, and we need to do better in the future, but sometimes you need to adapt to the game.

'So I don't need anyone to evaluate my team. I can evaluate my team and I am really clear that we should play better with the ball, and we are going to try to do that in this game.

'I understand everything. I am really pleased that the team can play different games. It was an important win, but I was the first one to say we need to play better with the ball.

Ruben Amorim has hit back at Arne Slot following comments on Manchester United's tactics against Liverpool

'Liverpool is in the past. It is not important. It is important what Fabian said; to try to understand what is going to happen (against Brighton).'

After winning back-to-back Premier League games for the first time, Amorim knows how important it will be to keep the momentum going. However, he is reluctant to view it as a turning point just yet after too many false dawns during his first year in charge.

'We are always talking about that,' he added. 'Sometimes when you talk too much about turning points, it is worse. Let's take it naturally.

'We have won two games, it is no big deal. It should have come sooner. Let's go for the next game and it is going to be really really hard to play against Brighton. Let's try to perform better than we did against Liverpool.'
