Jamie Carragher has been 'playing games' with his prediction of Arsenal winning the Champions League, teased Roy Keane

The Man United legend believes Carragher wants to ramp up the pressure on the Gunners, who have made a sensational start to the season in all competitions.

An all-star panel including Keane, Gary Neville, Paul Scholes, Ian Wright and Jill Scott discussed predictions during their latest episode episode of Stick to Football, with Keane also poking fun at Scott for sticking with her tip.

'Jamie said last night that Arsenal are favourites for the Champions League, well he put them as favourites,' the former Lionesses star told the group.

Keane then chimed in, suggesting Carragher's ulterior motive: 'Jamie plays games like that, doesn't he? He puts them favourites to put the pressure off Liverpool, a little bit, there's a little bit of that.

'But we all sit here and say, who's going to win the league and we're all going to say Arsenal now and that's putting pressure on them.'

Jill Scott said Carragher tipped Arsenal to win the Champions League this season

'I'm still sticking with Chelsea,' Scott replied.

Keane could not believe his ears and said: 'Jill I'm serious now, do you drink alcohol in the morning? How do you think Chelsea can win the league, they gave up about 10 chances against Nottingham Forest by playing out from the back. You think they're better than Arsenal?

Scott retorted: 'You change your mind all the time'

But Keane reminded her of his prediction before the season began, adding: ''When did I change my mind, who did I say at the start of the season for the title? I said Arsenal.

Arsenal are top of the Premier League, three points ahead of Manchester City and four points ahead of champions Liverpool.

The Gunners have looked rock solid, conceding only three goals in all competitions and battering Atletico Madrid 4-0 on Tuesday night to underline their status as one of the most dominant sides in Europe.

Ex-Arsenal legend, Wright, said: 'You have to look at Arsenal's progression to where they are now, they've built themselves to this and now are ready to go and do it. Chelsea are still trying to be in that place where they can go and challenge.'

Scholes is yet to be convinced, adding: 'I don't think we've seen one great team this year. Arsenal are very good team but I've not seen one performance where I've thought, they're going to win the league this year, other than maybe Newcastle away.

Arsenal battered Atletico Madrid on Tuesday night and are unbeaten in Europe

Wright then made the comparison between the last campaign when Arsenal fell short and this one: 'Newcastle, West Ham and Fulham - we got one point from those last year - this is what made me feel like they're right now, because we got nine points out of that this season, the mentality has changed, they know what has got to happen.

'Even the result at Newcastle. They keep going and know that they're solid enough at the back that they can go for it. Last season when Liverpool slipped up and we needed to put pressure on, it didn't happen.'

Neville then had his say and suggested even at this stage it would be a huge shock if Arsenal failed to go on and win the title.

He said: 'They've played United away, Man City, Liverpool away. They've played nearly everybody already and they're where they are. It is wrong to say this because it is ridiculous and we've all been in title races. If they don't win it from here... we've all predicted Arsenal to win the league right, we know it can go wrong.

'If they don't win it from where the other teams are and the confident position they're in now... a lot can change but they're in a good place. It feels like the Newcastle game turned the corner.

'It's not a putting pressure on them statement, they just must be thinking, "this is us, this year, we've got to win it". When you can bring in Lewis-Skelly for Califiori and Ben White, Mosquera coming in with no drop off, it's looking scary.'

Keane issued some caution given how rapidly momentum can shift

'We've got to be careful', he warned. 'We've got a responsibility saying stuff, two or three weeks ago, we see what happened to Liverpool. If Arsenal got a few injuries, things could change very quickly.'

He also made the bold suggestion that in the weekend's Forest defeat by Chelsea, after which Ange Postecoglou lost his job, the players may not have really wanted to score, calling them 'idiots'.

He said: 'You look at the first half of the game against Forest and the chances they had when Ange was sacked. Do they really want to score? Do they want to keep him in the job?

'I'm on about good players not even hitting the target. Then a manager loses the job and you look at these Forest players, like, "ah well another manager has gone, a new one comes in", idiots.'
