Police officer aims Taser at WNBA star Paige Bueckers in tense bodycam footage from teammate's arrest at Miami nightclub

Bodycam footage shows the tense moment a police officer aimed his Taser at a group of WNBA stars, including Paige Bueckers, when one of their teammates was arrested in March.

Dallas Wings guard Arike Ogunbowale was arrested outside a trendy Miami nightclub and later charged with battery after allegedly punching a security guard.

Bueckers, Ogunbowale and a number of others were out celebrating their Unrivaled title. But the night quickly turned sour when police officers showed up after an altercation inside E11EVEN led the group to be escorted out.

The alleged victim claimed they were trying to escort Ogunbowale away from the club when she punched them 'in the face with a closed fist' and knocked them to the ground.

The footage, which is from 4:20am in the early hours of March 5, shows officers attempting to place Ogunbowale in handcuffs after she was identified by the victim as the assailant.

But then Bueckers and other people in their group quickly gathered around and begged the officer to let her go.

The crowd, which also included Unrivaled host Maria Clifton, Aces guard Jackie Young and Sky forward DiJonai Carrington, became so big that the officer pulled out his Taser and told them to give him space.

Bueckers can be seen with her arm around Ogunbowale and tells the officer a number of times: 'We got her.' He then aims the Taser at Bueckers and demanded she let Ogunbowale go.

As the officer places Ogunbowale in handcuffs, Clifton can be heard demanding: 'Stop it. Do not put handcuffs on her. Are you f***ing kidding me? She's a champion.'

Ogunbowale was then led over to the police car and put in the back before being transferred to a nearby jail and booked on one misdemeanor count of battery.

Officers later state in the incident report that they watched CCTV footage of the incident and it matched up what the alleged victim's claims.

However, court records show the charge against Ogunbowale was dropped in May.

'We are pleased that the State Attorney's Office has exercised its discretion and elected not to move forward with this matter,' Ogunbowale's attorney, Mitch Schuster, said to ESPN at the time.

'Ms. Ogunbowale is a person of outstanding character, and we are excited that these charges have been dismissed so she can resume her focus on her professional career.' 

The alleged victim claimed he was trying to escort Ogunbowale away from the club due to an unrelated altercation when she punched him in the face and knocked him to the ground.

Ogunbowale is one of the highest-paid players in the WNBA on a salary of just under $1.2 million in 2026. She is a four-time WNBA All-Star who has played in the league since 2020. 

She is Wings teammates with Bueckers, the No. 1 overall pick out of UConn in the 2025 WNBA Draft.
