Paul Gascoigne has backed a star who hasn't played for England for more than a year to make the 2026 World Cup.
Gazza - who dazzled fans with his performances at Italia '90 - says the 30-year-old is 'always dangerous' and thinks he should be starting.
He is of course talking about Everton's maestro Jack Grealish, who has long talked of his admiration for Gascoigne's style of play.
Grealish hasn't played for England since he scored against Finland in October 2024 but there are increasing calls for his inclusion thanks to his good form at Everton.
'It doesn’t matter if he loses the ball, he always wants it again,' Gascoigne told FourFourTwo when asked about their similarities.
'He’s handsome as well! It amazes me when managers put him sub, because he’s always dangerous.
Paul Gascoigne says Jack Grealish should be on the plane to the 2026 World Cup for England
Grealish has been in resurgent form at Everton and spoke recently with Thomas Tuchel
'Definitely, and I think he’ll make it. I can’t see him not going, because he’s always going to be a threat.'
Grealish was spotted speaking with England manager Thomas Tuchel in the tunnel after Everton's impressive win on the road at Manchester United on Monday.
He enjoyed a fine run of form under interim boss Lee Carsley before Tuchel arrived, scoring twice in three Nations League games, but has not featured in a squad since.
Tuchel wants his internationals to be playing regularly and Grealish suffered from the fact that he had become a bit-part player at Manchester City.
Now, on loan with David Moyes' side, he is shining and has four assists and a goal, while he has also shown a good defensive work ethic.
Tuchel is so impressed that he was seen embracing Grealish after the Toffees' victory at Old Trafford, putting an arm around him before sharing a handshake and some conversation.
The German even shared a laugh with the winger, who will undoubtedly have his sights on a return to the England camp ahead of next summer's World Cup.
Grealish revealed that the Three Lions boss had called him after the most recent squad to face Serbia and Albania was announced, explaining that he had not made the cut due to the volume of left-wingers already in the squad.
Tuchel then also revealed that he would be making contact with players on England's 'long list' after the World Cup Qualifiers, to 'explain to them why they were not here' and how to get themselves in contention.
'[I will] explain to them what they have to do, Tuchel said. 'Where they can improve, can they even do something or is it just a choice. So this is my job for the next weeks and months.'
Grealish has already represented England at a World Cup in 2022, but only collected cameo minutes from the bench before Gareth Southgate's side were knocked out by France.
