Fox Sports and Amazon Prime NFL pregame host Charissa Thompson suffered a significant health scare during a live broadcast but refused to clock out over fear for her job.

During her regular podcast co-hosted by Fox sideline reporter Erin Andrews, Thompson explained her thought process as she was confronted with a medical emergency.

'I dreamed of having this job and now two decades later I'm still lucky to have it and I never take it for granted, even if I'm tired, even if it's this, or that,' Thompson said.

'Even if you're throwing up the day of your game, which I will tell you, you were and you had a Michael Jordan night,' Andrews added, referring to the Bulls legend's famous 'Flu Game.'

'You looked spectacular, you handled that desk,' Andrews continued. 'You said you were going to die, and I said, "If you're going to die they're going to bury you in that outfit because you look great."'

Thompson did not disclose the date or the nature of the medical emergency, but did explain the professional panic she faced while considering her options.

'I love this job… and I don't want anyone else to take my job, try to come for my job,' Thompson continued.

'The seat that I'm lucky enough to sit in on Thursday night and on Sunday — even if things happen during the broadcast because its live television, or in studio, nothing would take away my enthusiasm for this job. They will have to drag me off the set and force me to quit this job before I ever do.'

Thompson is, perhaps, best known for her 2023 admission to Barstool Sports that she had occasionally fabricated quotes from coaches during her time as a sideline reporter.

The comment ignited controversy and prompted Thompson to issue an apology and a clarification.

'Ok, let's address the elephant in the room,' Thompson said in a statement on social media. 'I have a responsibility to myself and my employers to clarify what is being reported.

'When on a podcast this week, I said I would make up reports early in my career when I worked as a sideline reporter before I transitioned to my current host role.

'Working in media I understand how important words are and I chose the wrong words to describe the situation. I'm sorry.

'I have never lied about anything or been unethical during my time as a sports broadcaster.'

She continued: 'In the absence of a coach providing any information that could further my report I would use information that I learned and saw during the first half to create my report.

'For example if a team was 0 for 7 on 3rd down, that would clearly be an area they need to improve on in the second half. In these instances I never attributed anything I said to a player or coach.

'I have nothing but respect for sideline reporters and for the tireless work they put in behind the scenes and on the field. I am only appreciative and humbled to work alongside some of the best in the business and call them some of my best friends.'
