NFL fans stunned to find out three-time Super Bowl winner isn't in the Hall of Fame after being spotted on ESPN

Ahead of a primetime game on Monday Night Football, NFL fans noticed the appearance of a San Francisco 49ers legend - only to stunningly be reminded of his absence from the hallowed halls in Canton.

Before the Niners took on the Carolina Panthers, cameras caught a man giving a hug to San Francisco's star running back Christian McCaffrey.

The Niners' social media team posted the images of the offensive dynamo chatting with franchise icon Roger Craig.

But after seeing this, fans were shocked to find out that Craig - who was one of the best NFL running backs in the 1980s and early 1990s - is not in the Pro Football Hall-of-Fame in Canton, Ohio.

Craig is a former Offensive Player of the Year, a two-time All-Pro selection, the league's receptions leader in 1985, a four-time Pro-Bowler and a part of the NFL 1980s All-Decade Team.

On top of all that, he was a key part of the Niners' dynasty - winning Super Bowl XIX, Super Bowl XXIII, and Super Bowl XXIV.

Fans took to social media to plead Craig's case to be properly enshrined.

Another post read, 'We really gotta start giving Roger Craig his flowers! How the hell Roger Craig isn't in the HOF! Dude was a beast!!'

Others were outraged: 'Wait, so Gale Sayers is in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, but Roger Craig isn’t?!? Makes sense.'

'Wait…what??? Roger Craig is not in the Hall. This is BS,' said another user.

Another commenter said, 'Seriously, how is Roger Craig not in the Hall of Fame?? He’s an absolute legend!'

McCaffrey made his impact on the game known in the third quarter - running in for a touchdown to make the contest 17-3 in favor of San Francisco.
