Panthers superstar Nathan Cleary has melted hearts on the Today show when talking about girlfriend Mary Fowler's upcoming modeling debut in Paris.

Fowler is poised to make history later this month when she becomes the first footballer to grace the runway during Paris Fashion Week.

The 22-year-old is a global brand ambassador for L'Oreal Paris and will appear alongside the likes of Hollywood A-listers Kendall Jenner, Jane Fonda and Helen Mirren.

Cleary, who is gearing up for Penrith's semi-final clash with the Bulldogs on Saturday, left viewers swooning when asked about Fowler on live TV.

'Yeah, she does look beautiful,' Cleary told the Today show on Wednesday morning.

'She's pretty nervous actually about walking down the runway. She's been trying to get on Facetime and show me her catwalk, but I said be natural and make sure you show your smile, because it's beautiful.

The studio could be heard erupting after this remark.

Cleary was then asked if he's given Fowler any tips on what to do.

'God no,' smiled the Panthers playmaker.

'I'm not in the modeling industry, that's for sure. She holds up that end of the relationship.'

Earlier this month, Fowler admitted that she is getting a bit nervous about the event.

'Honestly I never imagined I'd be walking any runway, let alone one for L'Oreal that's in Paris of all places,' Fowler told Code Sports.

'I'm going to be the first professional footballer to walk this runway and the first Australian ambassador which is mind-blowing to me, but it also feels so empowering.

'I am a little nervous, but I'm not pressuring myself to be perfect out there because to me walking in Le Défilé is a chance to show that showing up as yourself will always be beautiful.'

Fowler added she is 'incredibly proud' to represent women in sport, and will treasure her moment in the City of Love as it will encourage young girls to 'dream big.'

The winger ruptured her ACL while playing for Manchester City in April, with the typical recovery time between nine and 12 months.

She is racing the clock to be selected for the Asian Cup next March, which will be played in Australia.
