The Giants could soon be in for another head coaching change, and Jaxson Dart's dad revealed that his son's old college coach is aware of the rumors linking him to New York.

Big Blue is 2-7 and all but out of the playoff picture under Brian Daboll, who now has a 20-39 record in the midst of his fourth season with the team.

And amid Lane Kiffin's success at Ole Miss, he's been mentioned as a potential option for New York - something he has even talked about with Dart's dad, Brandon.

'I think [WFAN radio host] Boomer Esiason had said something in the media today that maybe they should throw out a potential coaching [offer] to Kiffin, and [Kiffin] just sent it over with a smirk and just said, 'It's too cold in New York for me.' It's just kind of funny,' Brandon said on the 'Bleav in Ole Miss' podcast.

Former Jets quarterback Esiason had mentioned Kiffin - who coached Dart for three years at Mississippi - as a name to watch in a potential Giants' coaching search, though he added that he didn't foresee the Giants going after the ex-Raiders coach.

Kiffin has massively rehabilitated his stock at Ole Miss, where he's gone 52-19 since 2020, including an 8-1 record this year.

Dart is having a promising rookie year for the Giants since he was named starter ahead of Week 4

However, he flamed out as the Raiders coach after just a season and change in 2008, as he posted a 5-15 record with the then-Oakland franchise.

Nonetheless, he was instrumental to Dart's development in college before the Giants went on to pick him in the first round of this year's NFL Draft.

'... We have our weekly interactions with him and his family, and Jaxson holds high regard. I think Kiffin is one of his most trusted allies, and I think he uses him for advice in a lot of different ways,' Brandon said.

'So, there's constant communication between them, even today, and there's a lot of that between our families. I don't think we could have asked for a more special coach relationship between our family and our son. So, we're very, very grateful for coach Kiff.'

Following a rocky start to the season for fellow Giants passer Russell Wilson, Dart was named the starter ahead of Week 4 and has been promising since.

The 22-year-old has 10 passing touchdowns against three interceptions thus far, averaging about 147 passing yards per game while also showing his talent on the ground.

Dart has already added five rushing scores in the six starts he's made.

However, his respectable numbers haven't translated to many wins as the Giants offense has also been hit by injuries to Malik Nabers and Cam Skattebo.

Following the Giants' latest loss to the 49ers last weekend, Dart was asked about Daboll's job security, but the quarterback said he 'can only control what I can control.'

'As players, we've got to be better,' Dart told reporters. 'They are not the ones out there on the field. We are. Us, as a team, need to be better that way.'
