Cam Skattebo has paid tribute to his Giants teammates as he recovers from surgery  on a dislocated ankle.

The rookie running back was rushed to the hospital after suffering the horrific injury during the Giants' clash with the Eagles on Sunday.

Skattebo had to be carted off after being tackled by Philadelphia linebacker Zack Baun at Lincoln Financial Field.

He had surgery in the Philadelphia area on Sunday night and, after the game, New York players including quarterback Jaxson Dart spoke about Skattebo's impact and injury.

'I was devastated. That's my boy. So it sucks, man. It's the worst part of the game,' Dart said.

A compilation of his teammates' comments appeared on social media and Skattebo posted the clip to his Instagram story on Monday morning. 'My guys love tall boys,' the running back wrote alongside the video.

Earlier, Skattebo's ankle could be seen pointing at a 90-degree angle, with bone poking out inside his sock.

Players from both teams immediately put their hands to their heads, while others dropped to a knee. Dart could be seen shouting in frustration and shaking his head.

Skattebo's teammates called for medics to tend to the rookie who, alongside quarterback Dart, has breathed new life into New York's season.

The running back was in obvious distress as he sat on the turf and Skattebo already had a brace on his lower right leg when he was driven off the field.

Wide receiver Darius Slayton was among those to pay tribute to Skattebo after the Giants' 38-20 loss in Philadelphia.

'He's a young guy who was having a heck of a year. Somebody who is a unifying and energetic personality. It was sad to see him go down,' Slayton said. 'I hope whatever it is is not too severe.'

Offensive tackle Jermaine Eluemunor added: 'Skat's a really tough dude. Mentally, he's one of the toughest guys I've been around. So if anyone can come back from injury like that and be even better it's him.'
