Radio show host Dee Salmin has revealed that her stunning dress that she wore to last week’s ARIA Awards was made from oranges from her designer’s back garden.

Salmin, who is currently dating Collingwood star Darcy Moore, stunned in the glittering sequined dress, made by sustainable fashion designer Amy Cottrell.

It came after Salmin had also dazzled at the Brownlow Medal awards in September, wearing a glamorous long white gown with a keyhole cut out under the bust.

The 31-year-old turned heads last Wednesday as she and Darcy arrived on the red carpet at Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion, with the Magpies skipper sporting a very sleek khaki Guess jacket.

Salmin took to Instagram on Monday to lift the lid on how the sequined dress was made, with designer Amy Cottrell revealing each of the orange disks that adorned the dress were handmade bioplastic sequins.

The radio presenter added that you could ‘even eat’ the orange disks.

‘Shout out to Amy Cottrell who made my Arias Dress! The sequins are biodegradable (you can even eat them) made from oranges from her garden,’ Salmin wrote on her Instagram story, publishing a clip of Cottrell making the dress.

The sustainable fashion designer sources materials for her pieces from sustainable sources, including ‘recycled and deadstock’ products.

In a clip published online, Cottrell shows off how she produced a resin from the oranges sourced from her family’s farm.

She is seen pouring the resin into a thin sheet, before cooling it and cutting out each of the individual disks that were then stitched together to make the stunning dress.

‘Making a bioplastic sequin dress,’ Cottrell captioned the video.

‘This mini dress is made from handmade bioplastic sequins (edible and biodegradable) in several shades of orange using a natural dye created from oranges from my family farm!!

‘Made to order and available online soon,’ she added.

At the Brownlow awards, Moore penned a very sweet note to Salmin on Instagram after publishing a snap of the happy couple posing for photos.

The Triple J presenter also revealed that the sequins on the dress were also edible, having been made from oranges in Cottrell's back garden

She and her boyfriend Darcy Moore (pictured) sparked engagement rumours following their recent romantic getaway to Thailand

The couple have been dating since 2023, with Moore having penned a note to his beau after the Brownlows stating: 'I am extremely in love with you'

‘I am extremely in love with you,’ he said, while some fans wrote that their outfits looked very bridal.

‘Giving wedding vibes, just saying,’ one had written.

The couple are understood to have begun dating two years ago, with Salmin and Moore having confirmed their romance at the ARIA Awards back in 2023.

During the off-season, Moore and Salmin enjoyed a romantic getaway to Thailand, with the pair publishing a series of stunning holiday snaps online.

‘Bangkok rocked my socks,’ Moore wrote on the series of photos, which included a snap of the couple posing for selfies in a photo booth and a snap of Salmin enjoying a glass of bubbly on a rooftop bar.

While the pair have remained tight-lipped on their relationship status, the post sparked much speculation online, with some suggesting that Moore could be set to pop the question.

‘No proposal?’ one wrote on social media, adding a ring emoji and a question mark.

Salmin had recently hit out at a vile comment about her and her beau on her Instagram, issuing a tongue-in-cheek reply to the troll who had claimed: ‘They look like they do a Welcome to Country before f***ing.’

The radio host, who presents Triple J’s The Hook Up alongside Pip Rasmussen, quipped back saying: 'Thanks, but it's actually an Acknowledgement [sic] of Country.’
