Cristiano Ronaldo could miss the first game of the World Cup after being handed his first ever international red card for throwing an elbow at Ireland defender Dara O'Shea on Thursday.
The Portugal veteran, 40, was given his marching orders in Dublin shortly aftwer the hour mark with his side 2-0 down and starring down the barrel of a defeat.
