Chelsea vs Wolves - Premier League LIVE: Latest score, team news and updates as winless strugglers play first game since Vitor Pereira's sacking

'Only two outfielders have started every Premier League game for Chelsea'

Only two outfielders have started every Premier League game for Chelsea this season and that’s the Pedros – Joao Pedro and Pedro Neto.
That’s impressive in a team that rotate so often (Enzo Maresca has made eight changes here from that draw with Qarabag) but they need to show greater output to show the supporters why they have such trust from the manager.

Collins: 'It is NOT a free hit'

By Tum Balogun

James Collins, Wolves interim boss, pre-match presser:

Like any game, we have watched the opponent, looked at their strengths and weaknesses and how we can counteract that. The players have been unbelievably receptive to what we have done this week. It is not a free hit. We do not want to waste a game. We have to be brave enough to go there and give it a go.

Wolves' historically poor start

By Tum Balogun

It has been a grim opening ten games for Wolves, who sit bottom with just two points and no wins. Every Premier League team to start a season with two points or fewer at this stage has gone on to be relegated. Their 14-game winless run in the top flight stretches back to April, a record they are desperate to end tonight.

Maresca: 'We are in a moment where anyone can say what they want'

By Tum Balogun

Enzo Maresca, Chelsea boss, pre-match presser:

We are in a moment where anyone can say what they want and I completely respect that. Since I joined the club, it has been my view to rotate players. When you win, no one complains. When you do not, it becomes the problem. You cannot play 65 games with the same eleven.

Rooney slams Maresca's rotation policy

By Tum Balogun

Wayne Rooney has questioned Enzo Maresca’s constant team changes, saying Chelsea’s senior players should ‘privately question’ the manager over his rotation. Speaking on his BBC podcast, Rooney warned that ‘when you keep chopping and changing, players won’t be happy’.

He added that results will decide whether Maresca’s approach works, saying leadership figures must speak up if performances drop.

Chelsea's underrated threat

By Tum Balogun

For all the talk about Enzo Maresca’s possession football, Chelsea have quietly become one of the league’s most dangerous sides from dead balls.

They have scored eight goals from set pieces already this season, second only to Arsenal. With Reece James delivering and big targets like Fofana and Chalobah attacking it, corners and free kicks are becoming a real weapon.

Wolves' search for a new boss

By Tum Balogun

Wolves are still hunting Vitor Pereira's successor, and Rob Edwards is now the frontrunner to take over. Middlesbrough have granted him permission to speak to the club after an approach that caused friction in the Championship.

Edwards, a former Wolves defender and academy coach, is seen as the preferred choice to lead the Old Gold out of trouble.

Saturday night lights at the Bridge

By Tum Balogun

Chelsea bring the curtain down on Saturday’s Premier League action as they host bottom-of-the-table Wolves at Stamford Bridge, kick-off 8pm.

Enzo Maresca’s side can climb towards the European spots with a win, while Wolves arrive managerless, eight points adrift of safety and desperate for a spark.

Under the lights in west London, it’s a chance for the Blues to steady their week after midweek European frustration. We’ll have all the build-up, team news and live updates right here throughout the evening.
