Pretty convincing. We'll see if it translates onto the field.

Squawka stat pack

By Lewis Browning

Our friends at Squawka, as they always do, have put together a nice stat pack ahead of today's game.

There's little doubt that, despite their tough run, Liverpool are the better side here. In every way.

Elsewhere today

By Lewis Browning

There hasn't been too much Premier League action so far, with five games taking place tomorrow due to European matches in the week.

Here's a roundup of what's happened so far:

  • Leeds 2-1 West Ham
  • Chelsea 1-2 Sunderland
  • Newcastle 2-1 Fulham

Manchester United's game against Brighton is coming to an end too.

Some result for Sunderland, by the way!

Liverpool in the house

Liverpool's players and staff are here at the Gtech Community Stadium.

A penny for their thoughts? They look quite chilled.

Slot: 'We are facing different play styles'

By Lewis Browning

Arne Slot, Liverpool manager:

The main difference between this season and last season is the playing styles we face. I've looked when we had a few days off at how many long balls we already had to defend - 178 in seven games and then United came and we had to defend 59 long balls.
That's different from the first half of last season. The way to unlock it is a moment of magic, which we had in the first half of last season a lot with Mo, or a set-piece, which we had at Frankfurt as well, because that again was a low block. But two set-pieces unlocked the game for us.
So, this is what I try to explain to them and what I try to explain to the media. What I try to do after the game, it was actually more of a compliment for the other manager that he found the right answer to our playing style.

Andrews: 'Liverpool don't have the rhythm they once did'

By Lewis Browning

Keith Andrews, Brentford manager:

They have world class players in their squad. It is a new team - and I can relate to that.
You can see in their performances that their team probably doesn’t have the rhythm it once did. But, in the moments when it does click, they are absolutely lethal.
We will have to manage the game. We are well aware of the strengths they have. We will see what their teamsheet brings tomorrow evening. We will be prepared for it and we are really looking forward to it.

The rise of Thiago

By Lewis Browning

Some have been shocked by Igor Thiago's fine form this season.

He has scored six goals in nine games in all competitions so far, having become the main man on the back of Yoane Wissa's departure in the summer.

It's important to remember he was essentially signed as Ivan Toney's replacement before suffering a serious injury. He cost the Bees £31million - that is not cheap.

And he is proving to be worth every penny. He will be smelling blood today, too, given how Liverpool have been defending of late.

Slot on Salah

By Lewis Browning

Liverpool's Mo Salah has been an absolute shadow of his former self this season.

He has two goals and two assists to his name in the top flight, but he has been well off it lately and was dropping in midweek for the Champions League again.

Did he deserve a start today? I'm not sure. But Slot has been speaking on his man, and said he WANTS to see him angry.

Read more from Lewis Steele by clicking here or below.

LEWIS STEELE: Salah was a substitute in Liverpool 's 5-1 win at Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday and cut a frustrated figure after the match.

Breaking:Brentford team news: Henderson STARTS

By Lewis Browning

There are three former Reds in the Brentford team today, with one more on the bench.

Caoimhin Kelleher is between the sticks, with former Reds Premier League-winning captain Jordan Henderson in midfield.

Sepp van Den Berg is the third, with Fabio Carvalho in reserve!

Breaking:Liverpool team news: Salah STARTS

By Lewis Browning

Was there any ever real doubt?

Salah is back in after being dropped in midweek. Florian Wirtz starts too, seemingly in the No 10 role.

No Ryan Gravenberch or Alexander Isak in the squad.

Slot's war of words

By Lewis Browning

Speaking of Slot, he has been involved in a bit of a spat with Ruben Amorim this week.

The Reds boss took a jibe at United's tactics in the Anfield clash last weekend, referencing their 'long ball' efforts.

Amorim, though, bit back yesterday. The news broke quite late, so you may have missed it, so click here or below to read more from Chris Wheeler.

CHRIS WHEELER: Slot was frustrated that United 'had a low block and played a lot of long balls' in their 2-1 Premier League win over Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.

Brentford starting to settle

By Lewis Browning

Many had worried about Brentford this season following the departure of Thomas Frank - admittedly, myself included.

But they are starting to hit their stride a little bit now, with Keith Andrews doing a fine job. They picked up their first away win of the season on Monday, beating West Ham, and looked pretty decent.

They are 15th going into today's game. It sounds worse than it is, to be honest, and they have a favourable run of games coming up.

A win today would be Andrews' biggest victory yet by miles.

Liverpool's league slump

By Lewis Browning

One really does wonder what has gone on with Liverpool. There are clearly structural issues, but Arne Slot is finding it hard to balance his new signings.

They had survived early season struggles with a lot of last-minute goals, and it was clear that couldn't last forever. And it didn't.

A loss against Crystal Palace before the international break started the slump, and they followed that up with a last-minute defeat by Chelsea.

It was the same after the break, though - a 2-1 defeat by Manchester United last week.

They got back to winning ways in the Champions League in midweek, beating Frankfurt 5-1, but it's important they win this one today at a tough place to go.

Premier League action continues!

By Lewis Browning

Good afternoon one and all and welcome to Daily Mail Sport's live coverage of Brentford vs Liverpool in the Premier League.

It's a late one tonight! This would have been the early kick off today, but, due to Liverpool's Champions League involvement in midweek, it's tonight instead.

It's an important one, too, with the Reds looking to bounce back from three league defeats in a row.

A must-win? Maybe too early to say that. But it's as close as you can get, for my money.
