Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown went viral for all the wrong reasons during Friday night's clash against the New York Knicks

The Celtics faced the Knicks in a rematch of last season's Eastern Conference semifinals at Madison Square Garden, which saw New York emerge victorious with a 105-95 win

And Brown, the first option for Boston this season, caught attention for something other than his skills on the court.

During the third quarter, the 29-year-old suffered an awkward hairline gaffe when driving towards the basket against OG Anunoby.

In an attempt to create some space before going up for the shot, Brown leaned his head again the Knicks defender.

However, as he swiped back and forth, a clear black mark was left on Anunoby's white jersey.

Fans quickly noticed the dark stain as Brown pulled back to take the shot, and many were left questioning if the Celtics star used a spray-on hair product or dye on his hairline.

'He paints on his hair, everyone knows that,' one fan claimed another on social media, while another added: 'Painted on hairline is nuts.'

'He lost his hair He lost the game He lost his damn mind,' a third posted, replying to a video of the incident.

'Man, the camera angle did him no favors,' another said. 'Jaylen out here leaving DNA evidence on OG’s shoulder like it’s part of the playbook. The barbershop group chat about to be ruthless tonight.'

'Damn bruh got a tire mark on his jersey,' another chimed in referring to Anunoby, while another quipped: 'ref should’ve called a foul because that is a serious violation.'

Brown's humiliation didn't end with his hairline as the Celtics fell to their second defeat of the new season.

The Knicks rode a huge second quarter to a 105-95 victory over the Boston Celtics on Friday night and a 2-0 start to the season.

The Knicks outscored the Celtics 42-14 in the second quarter en route to a 64-44 halftime lead. It appeared they would blow out Boston at Madison Square Garden for the second straight time, after rolling to a 119-81 victory in Game 6 to eliminate the Celtics last season in the Eastern Conference semifinals.

The Knicks played a sloppy third quarter and the Celtics cut it to single digits in the fourth, but Jalen Brunson had a couple baskets to help them build back a cushion.
