Arkansas defensive back Kani Walker was carted off the field and rushed to hospital on Saturday night after taking a knee to the helmet during their loss to Ole Miss.

Early in the fourth quarter, Walker raced back in a bid to prevent Ole Miss wide receiver Deuce Alexander from catching a huge 40-yard pass over on the right-hand side of their 30-yard line.

Yet when fellow Razorbacks defender Caleb Wooden also chased Alexander down from the opposite side, he appeared to take an accidental knee to the head from his teammate after falling to the floor.

Walker was left motionless on the turf before medics quickly came onto the field to treat him, with his teammates huddling around their injured colleague.

He was then placed on a stretcher and carted off while holding a thumb up to signal to the crowd that he was alert.

The Arkansas player then headed off to a local hospital as a precaution, with ESPN confirming that he was moving all of his extremities when leaving the field.

Walker, who is currently in his first year with Arkansas after transferring from Oklahoma, has recorded seven tackles and three passes defended in the first two games of the season. The Razorbacks went on to suffer a 41-35 defeat on the night.

Roughly 15 minutes before he was left briefly unconscious, Texas A&M player Bryce Anderson took a similarly frightening hit to the head during their game against Notre Dame.

With less than a minute until halftime, Notre Dame quarterback CJ Carr tossed a pass for tight end Eli Raridon. Both Anderson and teammate Will Lee III went to tackle Raridon and collided with him at the same time.

Anderson took the brunt of the force from the collision, with Lee hitting Raridon first and into his teammate.

After the hit, he was seen lying motionless face-down on the field. A teammate tried shaking him awake and he did not respond.

Out came medical personnel as players on both sidelines knelt on the field in reverence.

At one point, the Aggies gathered around the 30-yard-line and circled up. They were seen bowing their heads in what appeared to be prayer.

After some time, Anderson's helmet and pads were taken off, he was loaded up, and was taken off the field.

Coming out of the half, NBC Sports sideline reporter Kathryn Tappen spoke to Texas A&M coach Mike Elko for an update.

'He was spineboarded. He was then taken in an ambulance to Beacon Memorial Hospital for precautionary reasons, that is a Level One Trauma Center two miles away from here,' Tappen said on the broadcast.

She added, 'He has feeling in all of his limbs. Coach spoke to him on the way out, he also said he told his team "this is our brother", the guys want to play strong for him in the second half.'
