Kelly Stafford has opened up about how wild trade rumors tied to her husband, NFL quarterback Matthew Stafford, ended up affecting her kids in school.

The Los Angeles Rams quarterback was at the center of offseason speculation, with reports claiming the team might try to move on from him amid salary cap concerns.

But according to Kelly, social media trolls blamed her as a 'distraction' and contributing factor behind the potential trade.

The fallout, she says, filtered all the way down to their children. Chatting on the Sunday Sports Club podcast, Kelly recounted: 'There was speculation [whether] Matthew is getting traded this past year.

'[There were rumors] that 'his wife was the problem,' and that's part of the reason…

'The kids at school were picking on them, like, 'You're gonna have to move because your mom is an issue, like, she's too loud and whatever.'

Kelly and Matt, 37, share four children together: 8-year-old twins Sawyer and Chandler, 7-year-old daughter Hunter, and 5-year-old daughter Tyler.

Kelly revealed that it really hit home when her daughters came asking: 'Mommy, are we having to move because of you?' I was like, 'What the f***?' It wasn't the Rams.'

However, in the end, Stafford re-signed with the Rams, continuing as their quarterback since his 2021 blockbuster trade from Detroit.

Kelly continued: 'It is all fun, and every year I look forward to another season. Every year, I pray that it's a healthy season.'

Away from the field and in the stands, Kelly and their girls sometimes cheer from the bleachers - a change from their usual private suite at SoFi Stadium.

She said: 'My girls love to sit there. They love to see their dad, and they get to wave [and] try to get his attention, like, 'I just want to see my dad.'

Despite missing nearly a moth of training camp due to back issues, Stafford will be under center at SoFi Stadium against the visiting Texans, Rams coach Sean McVay said Monday.

McVay also said left tackle Alaric Jackson is on track to play after joining practice Monday for the first time since he was sidelined with blood clots before training camp began. Jackson is expected to practice all week before the Rams host the Houston Texans.

While McVay couldn't definitively say Jackson will suit up Sunday, Stafford will be behind center, barring a setback.

The 37-year-old Stafford has participated in the past two weeks of practice with the Rams after getting off to a slow start to his 17th NFL season.
