MLB pitcher Richard Lovelady has been offered a career outside of baseball, thanks to his choice of first name.

The New York Mets pitcher, who was sent to the team's Triple-A affiliate Syracuse this week, recently revealed that he goes by the name 'Dicky'.

That would go on to spark a frenzy on social media, with his 'crazy' name - when paired with his surname - leaving fans in astonishment.

But now he's been given a chance to capitalize on his name with a big-money offer from adult film company CamSoda to star in one of their productions.

According to TMZ, they are willing to pay him $250,000 to step in front of the camera.

'As a left-handed relief pitcher known for handling pressure,' a spokesperson said. 'We think he's the perfect fit to bring some heat in a whole new arena.'

Lovelady is happily married to wife Maddie and a father, meaning he's unlikely to accept

It's unlikely Lovelady will take them up on their offer, considering the 29-year-old is happily married to wife Maddie and a father to a young son.

CamSoda vice president Daryn Parker added: 'You've made a name for yourself in high-stakes situations, and we believe that same confidence and control could be a hit with our audience.

'Whether you're coming in for the save or just keeping things loose in the bullpen, we think you've got the charisma to command the spotlight.'

'We'll take care of the tech, the fans, and the lights - you just bring the Lovelady presence that's already turning heads.'

Lovelady, who recently spent time with the Toronto Blue Jays, stunned fans when he asked members of the media to call him 'Dicky'.

'Dicky Lovelady is a crazy name,' one user posted on X.

'No way he goes by Dicky with that last name. Admin got to be trolling,' said another.

A third wrote: 'dicky lovelady, what a name'.

After being drafted by the Royals in the 10th round of the 2016 MLB Draft, Lovelady spent three years in Kansas City before heading to the Atlanta Braves.

In April 2023 he was claimed off waivers by the Oakland Athletics, where he spent a season before similarly brief stints with the Chicago Cubs and Tampa Bay Rays.

Following his spell with the Blue Jays, Lovelady signed a minor league contract with the Minnesota Twins earlier this year, only to opt out of that deal within two months.
