Understandably, he is focusing on actions, not words, after his side's dismal penalty shootout defeat by Grimsby in mid-week.

'I can only say to our supporters that I am sorry,' he said. 'The better team on the night won the game and both what we showed, everybody has to do better. Today, we have to show intensity from the start.

'We need to go out onto the pitch and show how we are capable of playing, because the only way we fix this is by winning games.'

Ruben Amorim certainly appeared more measured during his press conference yesterday, two days after slinging grenades.

He had insinuated after the defeat by Grimsby that his players weren't performing for him, saying they 'spoke really loud'.

But he rowed back on his comments a little, pointing to his emotional nature and vowing he would repeat the mistake time and time again.

Amorim did, however, conceded that there are occasions he wants to quit the job and that he sometimes 'hates' his players.
