Rasmus Hojlund appears set to leave Manchester United are a deal was agreed with Napoli.

Hojlund joined United from Atalanta in 2023 in a deal worth up to £72 million, but he has struggled at Old Trafford.

The 22-year-old scored just four goals in 32 Premier League appearances last season.

He is now on the verge of completing a return to Italy, with Sky Sports reporting that Napoli have agreed to sign him on loan with an obligation to buy.

The total package is said to be worth more than £43m, including a loan fee in excess of £5m.

Under the reported agreement, Napoli would be obliged to buy Hojlund next summer for around £38m if they have qualified for the Champions League.

However, the deal is still subject to Hojlund finalising personal terms with Napoli, who won the Serie A title for the second time in three years last season.

A move to Naples would see Hojlund reunite with former Red Devils team-mate Scott McTominay, who was named Serie A's Player of the Year in his debut campaign.

Napoli have since added Manchester City legend Kevin De Bruyne to their squad.

McTominay and De Bruyne both scored last weekend as Napoli began the defence of their Italian crown with a 2-0 win away at Sassuolo.
