It was a halftime performance to remember for fans of the Los Angeles Sparks - and one to forget for the team's mascot - after a hilarious but unfortunate accident happened right in front of everyone.
The Sparks were hosting the Las Vegas Aces in a Western Conference matchup on Sunday evening - when the home team went to the locker room down 48-34.
To raise their spirits, the team put on a halftime show with dancers and music as is typical of basketball games.
But when one dancer decided to do a tumbling pass, he went into a back handspring across the court and his feet hit something solid.
The solid object was the head of Sparky the Dog - the Sparks' costumed mascot.
While the dancer managed to (relatively) land on his feet, Sparky laid flat on his back motionless before the camera that captured the incident quickly cut to the audience.
Sparky, the LA Sparks' dog mascot, was hit in the head by a backspringing halftime dancer
The dancer appeared fine, while the person in the suit seemed shaken. They were later fine.
The Sparks were unable to pull out a win after a strong first quarter from the Las Vegas Aces
Fans were concerned for the health of both performers, but there was also plenty of reaction acknowledging how funny the scene was.
The Sparks then posted an update later in the evening letting everyone know that Sparky was okay.
While the mascot may have left unscathed, the team did not as the Sparks fell 89-74 to Las Vegas in a return game for last year's second-overall pick, Cameron Brink.
LA now sits at 11-15 on the season and are the second-worst team in the West. They next travel up north to play the Seattle Storm on Friday.
