Keely Hodgkinson has opted to ditch her bold new brunette look just days after experimenting with her hair in New York, showing off a fresh 'Jungle Barbie' appearance in a series of photos on Instagram.

The 800m Olympic champion, 23, wowed fans with a shock new look earlier this week, swapping her trademark blonde ponytail for deep chocolate brown curls.

Hodgkinson showed off the dramatic new hairstyle in a series of social media headshots, all taken from various angles, and captioned the post: 'New York made me do it.'

But now, according to her latest post on Instagram, Hodgkinson has reverted back to her trademark blonde look — channelling her 'Jungle Barbie'.

The series of photos shared to the social media platform on Wednesday show the athlete in a purple bra and skirt, with her midriff exposed.

One picture was captured on Hodgkinson's Instagram story, while the other was posted to her personal reel.

Despite missing out on a World Athletics Championship gold last month, Hodgkinson triumphed at the glitzy all-female Athlos event in New York last Friday.

She cruised to a superb 800m win in one minute and 56.53 seconds, ending the season on a high after suffering from a series of hamstring injuries throughout the campaign.

Only Hodgkinson went faster than fellow Briton Georgia Hunter-Bell at the New York meet, as she came second with a time of 1:58.33.

The reigning BBC Sports Personality of the Year winner was duly rewarded with the spoils of her victory by tennis legend Serena Williams.

Athlos is the brainchild of Williams' husband, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, and launched last year in a bid to provide female athletics stars with a two-day blockbuster meeting that rewards them with one of the biggest pay-pots in the sport.

'I've barely raced this season so it was probably less of a struggle for me to go out there and want to give it something,' said Hodgkinson after claiming her crown. 'The atmosphere out there is crazy so it was really, really fun.'
