Professional golfer Brooks Koepka's wife, Jena Sims, shared heartbreaking family news on Monday when she announced that the couple had lost a baby.
Jena, 36, took to Instagram to share that she had been 16 weeks pregnant when their unborn child's heart had stopped beating, leaving her and her husband devastated.
The model and the five-time major winner, who tied the knot in 2022, welcomed their son, Crew, in July 2023.
'This is a grief no parent is ever prepared for,' she wrote. 'We are devastated, but remain hopeful to give Crew a sibling one day.'
Jena, who met her now-husband at The Masters in 2015, went on to touchingly offer support to women who have suffered similar tragedies as she praised healthcare workers for their efforts.
'Too often, these struggles happen in silence,' she added. 'There is still so much work and research needed to better understand and support women’s reproductive health. If you’re experiencing or have experienced pregnancy loss or infertility, please know you are not alone.

'Lastly, I want to recognize the doctors and nurses who must deliver this kind of heartbreaking news every day. It has to be the hardest part of their job, and I’m holding space in my heart for you too.'
Alongside the emotional message, Jena shared a series of heart-rending photos from her pregnancy, including a sonogram and a gender reveal cake which had been cut into to reveal blue frosting for a boy.
She also included an adorable video of two-year-old Crew, a snap of her cuddling their dog on the sofa and a photo showing a glimpse of her early-stage bump.
Jena announced in August 2023 that her and Koepka's first child, Crew, had been born on July 27 - six weeks premature.
In a later update, the Sports Illustrated swimsuit hopeful said that the newborn was going into neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).
'Leaving the hospital without your baby is something I wish on no one,' Jena shared.
'It's the hardest thing we've ever done. There's so much space in my heart for NICU parents, and those who don't get to bring their babies home.
'We have been visiting him as much as possible, and we know he's in the absolute best care.'

She added 'He's off oxygen, breathing on his own. He is starting to take a bottle (in very small amounts) otherwise feeding through his nose. He is meeting tiny milestones every day!'
Jena revealed that Crew had to be delivered by C-section in order to 'get him here safely.'
She had made it to the top seven of Sports Illustrated's Swim Search finalists that year and continued throughout her pregnancy, walking the runway during Miami Swim Week just one month before she gave birth.
