Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen has revealed that marriage to Hollywood actress Hailee Steinfeld has taught him that there is more to life than football.

Allen and Steinfeld got married in May, two years after they first met but for now, the 29-year-old is focusing on winning his first ever Super Bowl with the Bills.

But speaking to ESPN before his team's Monday night's showdown against Atlanta Falcons, Allen said that Steinfeld has brought greater perspective to his life.

Asked by Marty Smith what the most fulfilling thing in his life is, Allen answered: 'Most fulfilling? My wife. My wife is an unbelievable, undeniable rock star in her work, in her life as a person. She is everything that I need in my life.'

Allen paused for thought when Smith asked him what Steinfeld has taught him during their time together before explaining: 'Maybe that I am more than a football player.

'My whole dream as a kid, you know, has been to be in this position and I have never thought of anything outside that or beyond that.

'And hopefully I get to still play this game for a very long time and ultimately my goal is to play this for as long as I physically can. But there is life after it as well.

'Getting married was the coolest, it was the most important day of my life. I get to understand that what I do is not normal but I'd also be content with a different part of my life, however that may have looked.'

Allen went on to discuss how much he wants to win his first Lombardi trophy this season with the Bills, comparing it to Rory McIlroy's quest to win the Masters.

'I know as a man in my life I will be great but in doing what I do, how I have done it for my entire career, putting everything that I have into my job and winning a Super Bowl, it will always be the great white buffalo,' Allen said.

'That will sit with you for your entire life once you're done playing football.'
