Eagles star DeVonta Smith leaves fans split with VERY bold arrivals look for NFL opener: 'Negative aura'

Philadelphia Eagles star DeVonta Smith turned heads as he arrived for the first game of the 2025 season. 

The reigning Super Bowl champions kick started their title defense against bitter divisional rivals, the Dallas Cowboys, on Thursday. 

However, Smith stood out among his fellow teammates thanks to his eye-catching gameday outfit. 

The wide receiver turned Lincoln Financial Field into a catwalk as he cut a sharp figure in a tailored suit. 

The 26-year-old donned a white pin-striped, double-breasted blazer with tight-fitting matching pants, which cut off just above the ankle. 

Smith complimented the striking suit with a crisp navy suit and tie, adding a flourish with a matching deep blue boutonniere. 

Yet, the piece de resistance of his dapper look was an extremely wide-brimmed blue fedora printed with the names of his fiancee and two daughters printed on inside a heart. 

The spectacular headpiece also featured a nod to the Eagles' dominant triumph over the Kansas City Chiefs in February. 'NFL Super Bowl Champion' and 'FLY EAGLES FLY,' were written on the inside at the back of the brim.

The outfit certainly caught the attention of fans on social media, however not everyone was impressed.  

Many likened Smith to a mafia gangster, with one even sharing a GIF of Michael Jackson from the singer's Smooth Criminal music video.

'DeVonta Smith is a straight GANGSTA,' one social media wrote, while another agreed adding: 'Mob meeting at 6 kickoff at 7.' 

'Looks like he’s going to the Kentucky derby,' a third posted, likening Smith to a racegoer. 

However, another suggested a wildly different inspiration for Smith's look. 'Is that Melania?' they wrote, referring to the First Lady's inauguration look. 

'All this to lose is wild,' another claimed, suggesting Smith's outfit could end up being embarrassing should the Eagles lose, while one said it was, 'negative aura.'

But many were fans of Smith's outfit, with some even hailing the wideout as the 'best dressed in the league.'

'He’s stylin alright,' one gushed, as another agreed, adding: 'The fit goes hard.'

'My boy Smithy sure knows how to look dope,' another posted.

'The best suits in the league. It could go back and forth between him and Jalen Hurts,' said another.

Smith was sidelined for a spell during training camp and preseason due to a groin injury. 

However, the wide receiver was a full participant in practice this week, and is expected to start against the Cowboys on Thursday night.
