Timber takes the crown

Oh, I love that.

The DJ at Arsenal is currently playing Timber by Kesha, and I can only assume it's because Jurrien Timber was the best player on the pitch today.

Two goals, an assist, and a clean sheet.

It was the perfect display from Timber, and I think he has that right-back position nailed down now.

The bloke doesn't usually contribute up top, but now he has that to his game, he could become one of the best in the league.

The Man of the Match, by far.

FULL-TIME: Arsenal 5-0 Leeds

A five-star display from Arsenal!

The Gunners haven't just beaten Leeds here, they've battered them. An emphatic win to send them top of the table.

Viktor Gyokeres will steal the headlines, but that was a brilliant all-round performance from the Gunners.

The perfect way to prepare for Anfield.

Goal:Arsenal 5-0 Leeds (Gyokeres 90+5')

Nope, Viktro Gyokeres is the man who is taking the ball.

Can he bag his brace?

You bet he can, the Swede buries his spot kick into the bottom left-hand corner, sending Lucas Perri the wrong way.

The famous celebration comes out, and the Gunners are having one hell of a day.

PENALTY TO ARSENAL!

This kid is just special, isn't he?

Max Dowman wins Arsenal a penalty as he is taken down by Anton Stach in the box.

Go on, give the 15-year-old the chance to score his first goal...

FIVE added minutes

Erm... where has that time come from?

The referee has added five minutes of stoppage time, but I'm not sure how he has come to that figure.

Arsenal 4-0 Leeds

Just hit it!

Declan Rice does brilliantly to fashion some space in the area and just needs to finish it off.

But he seems desperate to slide the ball to Max Dowman, even though he's in a worse position.

Dowman doesn't have space to shoot and the attack comes to nothing.

Arsenal 4-0 Leeds

'You're going down' rings around the Emirates. Bit soon don't you think?

I'm all for footie banter between fans, but singing that song only two games in is a bit early.

Wait until November/December to start taunting relegation-threatened teams.

CHANCE! Arsenal 4-0 Leeds

My word, this kid is a joke.

Max Dowman seems to be involved in every single Arsenal attack, and this time he comes so close to sending the Emirates balmy.

The free-kick that he won is sent in, and then bounces out to the youngster.

His eyes light up and he has a pop... it flashes just wide.

Arsenal 4-0 Leeds

Oh dear...

Gabriel Gudmundsson is getting lit up by a 15-year-old, which is not the best of looks.

Max Dowman is a strong lad for his age and manages to win a foul after a little battle with the Leeds full back.

And Gudmundsson then gets a booking for his reaction, which was probably just embarrassment!

'What happens when Dowman goes to school?'

Gary Neville, former Man United defender, on Sky Sports:

What does he do on Monday when he goes back to school? Imagine going back to school after playing with Saka, Odegaard and Rice and then doing double geography and double history...
In all seriousness, it's a question they need to look at. How are they going to manage that when he's around the first-team?

Arsenal 4-0 Leeds

Max Dowman really isn't afraid to do his thing, is he?

The youngster has real belief in his own ability, and when he picks up the ball down the right, he only has one thing on his mind.

He dances inside, takes on a couple of Leeds defenders, and then lets fly. But his effort flies over the bar.

Arsenal 4-0 Leeds

Welcome to Premier League football, young Max Dowman.

The 15-year-old finally gets the ball and drives at Leeds down the right.

But he is met by the body of Gabriel Gudmundsson, who sends him flying.

Arsenal 4-0 Leeds

Well, this is a bit of a nothing game now.

Arsenal seem to be taking some pity on Leeds and have calmed down, while the visitors are doing, well, nish.

May as well blow the whistle now, ref.

Arsenal 4-0 Leeds

I have just had a text from one of my mates, who is a Leeds fan, saying that Arsenal have done nothing.

Well, he used fruitier language, but I can't repeat that.

I think that's his bitterness coming out because I think the Gunners have been excellent in this second half.

Leeds are the team who have done nothing!

SUBSTITUTION: Arsenal 4-0 Leeds

Now Noah Okafor gets his moment.

He comes on for his Premier League debut with Brenden Aaronsen joining him.

Daniel James and Willy Gnonto make way.

SUBSTITUTION: Arsenal 4-0 Leeds

What a moment!

This truly is incredible. 15-year-old Max Dowman comes on to make his Premier League debut, and he gets one hell of a reception.

He comes on to replace Noni Madueke, while Myles Lewis-Skelly (who looks ancient compared to Dowman) comes on for him.

Meanwhile, Christian Mosquera is on for Jurrien Timber.

Arsenal 4-0 Leeds

Oh, hello, hello, hello.

I was just about to talk about how Riccardo Calafiori has missed from miles out, but then the camera pans to Max Dowman.

Yes, the 15-year-old is getting ready to come on... I mean, wow.

SUBSTITUTION: Arsenal 4-0 Leeds

Daniel Farke instantly turns to the bench.

Summer signings Sean Longstaff and Felix Nmecha are brought into what is a tricky situation, while Ao Tanaka and Joel Piroe make way.

Feel bad for the pair of them having to play in this game now...

Goal:Arsenal 4-0 Leeds (Timber 57')

Jurrien Timber is at it again!

Leeds really are falling apart here at the Emirates, and they are undone by a corner yet again.

Declan Rice's set piece causes chaos, Leeds can't clear, and Timber bundles the ball home for his brace.

I said it could get messy, and it has.

Arsenal 3-0 Leeds

Leeds have to be really careful here.

Arsenal are all over them, and if they don't wise up then this will become a battering.

Noni Maduek is now on the right-hand side and is looking dangerous.

He plays a lovely little flick to Ethan Nwaneri, he lets fly, and it goes out for a corner.

SUBSTITUTION: Arsenal 3-0 Leeds

Oh dear...

This really doesn't look good. Bukayo Saka has to come off, and he takes an absolute age to stroll off.

The winger then shakes his head as he is replaced by Leandro Trossard and looks gutted when he chats to Mikel Arteta.

Remember, the Gunners have Liverpool next.

Arsenal 3-0 Leeds

That was the Viktor Gyokeres that we have all been waiting to see.

The striker really struggled in the first half and barely got to stretch his legs, which is what he does best. But as soon as Leeds gave him the chance to do that, he punished them.

Meanwhile, Bukayo Saka is down...

Goal:Arsenal 3-0 Leeds (Gyokeres 48')

That's why you don't write off Viktor Gyokeres!

The Swede takes just three minutes of this second half to prove his haters wrong with a brilliant individual goal, his first for the club.

He races away down the left channel, then squares up Pascal Struijk, before he drives past the Dutchman and then drills the ball into the bottom corner.

And then there is a huge roar of relief...

Arsenal 2-0 Leeds

There is Asahi on offer in he bars inside the Emirates these days, so no wonder barely any of the fans have returned for this second half.

They are loving the beer, I suspect!

SECOND HALF: Arsenal 2-0 Leeds

No changes at the break from Daniel Farke, so Noah Okafor will have to wait.

Can Leeds make a comeback here, or will Arsenal just pull away from them?

We are about to find out.

Okafor to make debut?

Leeds need to change something, otherwise this scoreline could get messy.

And well, it seems like a few of the subs are going through a vigorous warm-up at the break.

One of them is new signing Noah Okafor, who joined from AC Milan in midweek. He is really going for it right now.

Will we see him in the second half?

'Not scintillating but still impressive'

It's not scintillating but it's still impressive in its way. Leeds looked like a good, ambitious team against Everton on Monday night but Arsenal are grinding them down. They have the feel of a side that is going to be very hard to knock out of its stride this season.

Bukayo Saka of Arsenal celebrates scoring his team's second goal during the Premier League match between Arsenal and Leeds United at Emirates Stadium on August 23, 2025 in London, England. (Photo by David Price/Arsenal FC via Getty Images)

WATCH: Saka smashes in second

This is some finish from Bukayo Saka.

The winger looked a shell of himself at Old Trafford last week and was rightly criticised for his performance.

But today, he has silenced his critics with a typical Saka goal. I feel like I have seen him score this goal so many times in red.

Never fails to make me go 'oooo' though.

HALF-TIME: Arsenal 2-0 Leeds

I'm really sorry, Leeds fans, I am such a jinx.

The visitors were dealing with Arsenal well until I opened my big mouth twice, and now they have a lot of work to do.

Two shots on target and two goals for the Gunners, who are well on their way to a second victory of the season.

It's hard to see Leeds coming back now.

Goal:Arsenal 2-0 Leeds (Saka 45+1')

I've done it again...

Every time I say I'm bored, Arsenal suddenly wake up and do something, and this time it's Bukayo Saka who makes me look like a fool.

It's one hell of a strike from the winger as he hammers the ball into the top corner from a tight angle.

The Gunners have breathing space.

THREE added minutes

There will be three minutes of stoppage time here, let's hope there is some entertainment.

I'm not sure based on how this game is going, though.

Arsenal 1-0 Leeds

And back to boring football.

The stadium has lost its voice again, nothing is happening, and I am disappointed.

Obviously set pieces are an amazing weapon to have for Arsenal, but I can't say I am impressed with how they are playing.

If I were Liverpool, I wouldn't exactly be worried right now...

Arsenal 1-0 Leeds

Oooooo... I'm not sure about that.

Anton Stach is a lucky boy, I have to say.

He is chasing down an Arsenal long ball as the home side look to counter and has Noni Madueke on his case.

He makes a real mess of the clearance and Madueke pinches the ball off him, but the referee blows for a foul.

That's very soft.

SUBSTITUTION: Arsenal 1-0 Leeds

Martin Odegaard is not a happy bunny.

He shakes his head with anger and then looks at the ground as he sees his time is up.

Ethan Nwaneri does eventually come on as I imagine Mikel Arteta doesn't want to risk his captain ahead of their trip to Anfield next week.

Smart move.

Arsenal 1-0 Leeds

'Set piece again, ole, ole'.

That's what is ringing around the Emirates right now, as it was Old Trafford last week.

That's two goals this season, not from corners. When they can't break teams down, Arsenal just turn to set pieces.

Not the most exciting, but it works.

Goal:Arsenal 1-0 Leeds (Timber 34')

Well, I look silly now...

Right when I started to feel the need to have a kip, Jurrien Timber brings this game to life.

Same old Arsenal, as they open the scoring from a corner, with the defender nodding home Declan Rice's delivery.

Just what they, and this game, needed.

Arsenal 0-0 Leeds

Guys, I'm a bit bored.

This game has really lost its electricity in the last 10 minutes, and nothing is happening now.

You know what that means?

The question about what you are all having for dinner may be needed sooner rather than later.

Arsenal 0-0 Leeds

Erm... I'm confused.

Ethan Nwaneri had his full kit on and was ready to come on, Martin Odegaard was on the floor, and it looked like the switch was going to be made.

But despite still feeling the need to massage his own shoulder and looking in discomfort, Odegaard comes back on,

Why is he even risking further injury against such a physical side?

Odd to me.

Arsenal 0-0 Leeds

Oh dear... this doesn't look good.

Martin Odegaard is down again and holding his shoulder, so it looks like a problem that's here to stay.

Ethan Nwaneri is getting ready, and Martin Odegaard is going to have to come off here.

A real blow.

Arsenal 0-0 Leeds

Leeds seem to have ridden out Arsenal's early pressure.

There is nowhere near the same amount of noise being made by the home crowd now. In fact, all I can hear is the away end.

The visitors are getting more of the ball and are being positive with it.

We may actually have a game on our hands!

GOOD SAVE! Arsenal 0-0 Leeds

Where would Arsenal be without David Raya?

He was the reason they won last week at Old Trafford, and he is the reason why Arsenal are level here.

Pascal Struijk gets his head on a corner and powers a brilliant header at goal. Raya reacts brilliantly and somehow manages to tip it over the bar.

I thought that was going in for a brief moment.

Arsenal 0-0 Leeds

Jayden Bogle to the rescue.

It really does feel like a matter of time for Arsenal now, it's wave after wave of attack, and if it weren't for Bogle it may just be 1-0.

Noni Madueke slides the ball in the direction of Viktor Gyokeres, and it looks like he is in.

But Bogle gets across, nicks the ball off him, and clears.

CHANCE! Arsenal 0-0 Leeds

Oh, Viktor Gyokeres...

Leeds gift him the chance to score his first goal for Arsenal with some frankly silly play at the back.

They give the ball away, and it ends up in the path of Gyokeres just eight yards out. Surely, this is his moment.

But despite having nobody around him, the striker rushes his effort and fires wide while falling over.

You had more time, Viktor!

Viktor Gyoekeres of Arsenal takes a shot during the Premier League match between Arsenal and Leeds United at Emirates Stadium on August 23, 2025 in London, England. (Photo by Julian Finney/Getty Images)

Arsenal 0-0 Leeds

Erm... is this something to worry about?

Martin Odegaard wins a foul but it doesn't look like anything that should cause him a problem.

But the Arsenal skipper is down for some time, clutching his shoulder, which is worrying for the Gunners.

But wait, he's up and it seems like he is OK.

From the free-kick, Gabriel wastes a header, and it plops miles wide of goal. Not great.

Arsenal 0-0 Leeds

It's all happening in the Leeds box now.

First, Riccardo Calafiori flops to the ground under pressure from Dan James, but that's never a penalty, despite his best efforts to ask for one.

Then Declan Rice whips in a tantalising ball to the back stick where Bukayo Saka is steaming in.

But he can't quite get his head to it.

Bukayo Saka of Arsenal makes a header during the Premier League match between Arsenal and Leeds United at Emirates Stadium on August 23, 2025 in London, England. (Photo by Julian Finney/Getty Images)

YELLOW CARD: Arsenal 0-0 Leeds

We already have a booking.

Jayden Bogle gets into a right mess trying to keep the ball in deep in his own half, and ends up giving it to Noni Madueke.

He then tries to make amends but just cleans the winger out from behind.

A clear yellow.

CLOSE! Arsenal 0-0 Leeds

Ooooft...

Now that is some lovely football from Arsenal.

The ball is spread out to Bukayo Saka, and well, he takes it down beautifully before finding his skipper.

Martin Odegaard then unleashes a lovely low drive toward the near post, but it flashes just wide.

Close but no cigar.

Arsenal 0-0 Leeds

It's pretty clear how this game is going to go... already.

Leeds are just sitting back and attempting to soak up pressure, and as soon as they win the ball, they are straight on the counter.

Arsenal are going to have to be very patient today, you feel.

'A boyhood fan living his dream'

Eberechi Eze was unveiled to the Emirates crowd before kick-off. What a reaction. The noise levels hit another level as he made his way out of the tunnel.
He smiled away, a boyhood fan having his dream made true. It has lifted this crowd even further up as kick-off now starts.

Arsenal 0-0 Leeds

Arsenal are starting on the front foot, as you'd expect.

A long ball is fired over to Noni Madueke and he takes it down so well - what can he do with it?

Ah, that's not great.

The winger takes the full back on, but his low driven cross at the end of his run is pretty pants and Lucas Perri collects it.

KICK-OFF: Arsenal 0-0 Leeds

North London Forever has been sung, and now we are ready to go.

Leeds, playing in one of the best away kits I have ever seen, get this game underway.

Let's hope for a belter.

Atmosphere popping

There is a real feel-good factor here at the Emirates.

Even the rancid Premier League anthem doesn't dampen spirits, which says everything about how buzzing these fans are. It really is a honking tune.

This place has a real buzz about it, and it feels as though the fans are still riding high from seeing Eberechi Eze in red.

Well, he has stepped aside, and now the two teams are out and ready to do battle.

It's almost go-time.

Viktor Gyoekeres of Arsenal battles for possession with Pascal Struijk of Leeds United during the Premier League match between Arsenal and Leeds United at Emirates Stadium on August 23, 2025 in London, England. (Photo by Julian Finney/Getty Images)

'Strange that MLS is on bench'

There's a lot of attention on new names on the teamsheets at the Emirates but it's still strange to see Myles Lewis-Skelly on the Arsenal bench. The kid's so good, I'd always find a place for him somewhere.

Eze unveiled

Oh, would you just look at that smile.

The Emirates rises to his feet to greet Eberechi Eze, and boy, is this place loud now.

Their newest signing has a really cheesy grin on his face, and there's even a shake of the head as he makes his way onto the pitch.

It's almost as if he is in disbelief that he has signed for the Gunners.

This really is his dream move. He was released as a child and had to fight tooth and nail to make it into the Premier League in the first place.

Now, he is back wearing the red of Arsenal.

Eberechi Eze is presented to the fans prior to the Premier League match between Arsenal and Leeds United at Emirates Stadium on August 23, 2025 in London, England. (Photo by Justin Setterfield/Getty Images)

Arteta: 'Eze will give us a new dimension'

Mikel Arteta, Arsenal boss, on signing Eberechi Eze:

We are absolutely delighted to bring Eberechi to Arsenal. He is a powerful and exciting player who will give us a new dimension in our attacking game.
What stands out just as much as his talent and intelligence as a player, is the way he has worked hard throughout his career to get where he is today.
His journey, his mentality, and his ambition are exactly what we want in our team, and we love how much it means to him and his family to be joining our club. We all look forward to start working with Eberechi soon.

The new number 10

You just knew he was going to take this number.

Eberechi Eze gets his number 10 shirt and is the first player since Emile Smith-Rowe to wear it.

I have a feeling that Eze is going to ball out for the Gunners, he really is one hell of a signing.

If only he was eligible to play today, eh?

Eberechi Eze signs for Arsenal with Arsenal Manager Mikel Arteta and Andrea Berta Arsenal's Sporting Director at Sobha Realty Training Centre on August 23, 2025 in London Colney, England. (Photo by David Price/Arsenal FC via Getty Images)

Eze signing CONFIRMED

Get the paint brushes out, he's official now.

Arsenal have confirmed the signing of Eberechi Eze with the words 'it was only ever Arsenal' alongside a video. I'm sure that will grate the gears of Arsenal fans.

Interesting time to announce the signing, so I wonder if they are going to unveil him to the crowd.

This place will go bonkers if they do.

Eze mural lasts a day

It really has been a mental few days...

When Arsenal agreed a deal to sign Eberechi Eze, one fan decided that he had already done enough to earn a mural, despite having not played in a Gunners shirt since he was a teenager.

That mural lasted just a day and was defaced this morning, and now it has been painted over with white paint.

Maybe wait until he has actually signed next time, guys.

 Yui Mok/PA Wire.

Eze scarves on sale

My word, these scarf sellers move fast, don'y they?

Just three days ago, it looked like Eberechi Eze was on his way to Arenal's north London rivals Tottenham. The deal was all but wrapped up on Wednesday morning.

But as they have done so many times over the years, Arsenal made many Spurs fans cry by swooping in from nowhere to agree a deal and personal terms with Eze.

He has reportedly already had his medical and will be announced officially very soon.

So, maybe it is time to get this scarf!

Martinelli misses out

I mean, it's been coming.

Gabriel Martinelli hasn't been at his best for a couple of seasons now, and I know that many Arsenal fans have been calling for him to be replaced.

Well, he has been today.

The Brazilian played pretty poorly at Old Trafford, so Mikel Arteta has thrown £52m signing Noni Madueke into the mix. Don't sleep on this guy; he had some brilliant moments in a Chelsea shirt.

Martinelli must be hurting, though... it feels like the beginning of the end of his Arsenal career.

Or am I being dramatic?

'Gyokeres will come good'

Chris Sutton, former Blackburn striker, on BBC Sport:

I didn't feel Arsenal's performance was there against Manchester United but still, at least they found a way to win. All the talk in this game is going to be about Viktor Gyokeres and whether he can get off the mark. There was such an overreaction after he didn't score against Man United.
He's been written off as a dud in some quarters already! That's the modern game, you can get written off after your first hour of playing in the Premier League. Not me though, no, I think he'll come good.
Leeds played with such intensity against Everton, although the penalty they won was slightly harsh. Will Daniel Farke's side show that same level of bravery at the Emirates? Probably, and if so it'll cost them.

Debut for Dowman?

What were you doing at 15, eh?

I was taking regular trips to a vending machine in order to buy Haribo Tangfastics and Yazoo chocolate milkshake. I mean, it was a class time, to be honest.

Maybe Max Dowman eats sweets and milkshakes too, but when he is not doing that, he is making Premier League matchday squads. I didn't quite manage to achieve that, sadly.

Dowman was simply sensational at times during pre-season, and he has obviously impressed Mikel Arteta enough to include him in a league squad for the first time ever.

Will we see him take to the pitch later on? I hope so.

Leeds Team News - Gruev STARTS

The big news in the Leeds camp is that captain Ethan Ampadu has not recovered from his injury last week.

Ilia Gruev is the man that Daniel Farke has entrusted to replace him in midfield.

Other than that, it's as is for Leeds.

Arsenal Team News - TWO changes

In the red corner...

Mikel Arteta makes two changes for Arsenal's first home fixture of the season. Jurrien Timber comes into the back four, while Ben White drops out of the squad entirely.

Noni Madueke is the other change as he comes in to make his full Premier League debut for the Gunners.

And as you can see, young Max Dowman is on the bench.

Gunners in da house

I know what you are thinking: 'Where is the team news?'

Don't worry, guys, it will be with you very soon. All the players are in the building and have not left like Elvis, so it's time to get excited.

15-year-old Max Dowman is one of them and I can tell you that he is on the bench for Arsenal this afternoon.

Crazy, right?

All eyes on the Emirates

By Harry Bamforth

Ready for more?

We had a cracking start to the day at the Etihad, but unfortunately, the entertainment has dipped a little in the last couple of hours. But no fear, we have a belter to end the day.

Well, I'm hoping that it will be a belter.

Both Arsenal and Leeds will be looking to build on their slender wins last week as they face off at the Emirates this evening.

Having seen how things went for Man City earlier, I imagine Mikel Arteta's men will want to make sure they don't slip up.

Leeds, however, will want to make another statement and show that despite being newly promoted, they can mix it with the big boys. As long as there are goals, I'll be a happy boy!

Right, that's enough of an introduction, let's get going.
