A day after Angel Reese threatened to quit the Chicago Sky after another disappointing season, the WNBA star has walked back her comments and made a long public apology.
Reese gave an interview, published on Wednesday, that she 'might have to move in a different direction and do what's best for me' after the Sky have missed the postseason for the second consecutive year.
The former LSU national champion, who is positioned as the Sky's most-prominent player, and no doubt one of Chicago's best, spoke for the first time since those comments were made public after a victory over the Connecticut Sun.
'I don't think I'm frustrated. I'm probably frustrated with myself right now,' Reese began. 'I think the language is taken out of context. I really didn't intentionally mean to put down my teammates, because they've been through this with me throughout the whole year. They've busted their ass just how I busted my ass.'
'I want to apologize to my teammates, which I already have about the article and how it was misconstrued about what was said, and I just have to be better with my language, because I know, it's not the message, it's the messenger.'
The Sky and Sun have both been mathematically eliminated from the postseason, holding the third-to-last and penultimate spots in the WNBA standings.

The Sky improved to 10-30 with Wednesday's victory, far off the mark for a playoff team, with the Indiana Fever clinging to the No 8 spot, still 10.5 games ahead of Chicago.
Reese is one of the most notable stars in the WNBA, with her rivalry against Caitlin Clark vaulting the league's popularity.
Clark made the postseason in year No 1 with the Fever, and is likely to do so again in 2025, despite her long absence with injuries this season.
Reese has made the WNBA All-Star game in each of her two seasons in the league, with the 23-year-old hoping for better results from her team.
Her rookie contract runs through the 2027 season, with the Sky likely approaching the 6-foot-3 forward with an extension offer before a possible free-agency test.
Only then will Reese prove her long-term loyalty to Chicago and her teammates.
